16-bit?

How could Square even make a 16-bit game for the 128-bit PS2? It's not like games have a certain "bit setting"... it all depends on the console they were developed for. Do you mean "2D Final Fantasy", perhaps?

Hey, I didn't think of this poll :P Maybe that's what Rainmaker meant.

RE: 16-bit?

Weren't some of the older Final Fantasies 3-D, such as when you flew around in an airship?

RE: 16-bit?

Not really, it was just a different layer on the same 2-d map.

But you were capable of moving in three dimensions.

RE: 16-bit?

Nah, that was just Mode-7, just used 2D layers and such to create a 3D effect. It's used in lots of SNES games (some of the earliest being Final Fantasy IV and F-Zero). And you didn't really move in 3 dimensions anyway; it was the standard old 4 directions.

RE: RE: 16-bit?

I kinda meant--well on the PS remember Dragon Warrior 7 shi** graphics but man did it have alot of side quests and allowed great side quests

what i am saying is that----basically a Final Fantasy 3 For the ps2=like 300 hours of gameplay---with like a million sidequests you know------stand down from graphics and go back the the good ol Classics

RE: 16-bit?

Actually, when talking about older cartridge-based games, bittage generally has to do with the quality of graphics used. For the most part, 8-bit has sprites with no outlines and solid colors, and 16-bit has sprites with outlines and 2-3 shades per color.

RE: 16-bit?

Hmmm...one of the most original poll topics I've ever seen. Hats off to rainmaker!

And I would definitely enjoy seeing a 2D sequel to FFVI.

RE: 16-bit?

Yes! Back to basics! To heck with hour-long summon spells and polygons in fromt of a mat background. Just good olde sprite goodness, at least a party of four, and lots and lots of plot. Yes, life is good.
