Other.

The game doesn't force you to restart. The game is played with the concept in mind that you will lose, and have to start over from the beginning, but you don't have to.

You can also start from your last permanent save (you can make temporary ones that delete after you load them) with all the experience and money you've gained since you saved, also.

AND, it's also possible to beat it using NEITHER of those functions. I know I was able to.

This whole deal (The SOL system) was implemented to make a game that was really challenging, but also, a game that had a pretty elaborate story also. So, as a reward for starting over, you get more storyline depending on how far you got in the game. So, if you're a story person, it's not a big loss.

What will eventually turn a player off about this game, is the fighting. If you don't like the fighting, you're just NOT gonna like this game.

RE: Other.

I just got it and am still getting used to it, but it is fun and the restarts aren't that bad.

RE: Other.

True, the game does not FORCE you to restart from the beginning; but it includes MANY incentives, both nice (like the hidden scenes) and not-so-nice (Like making the game end if you use Dragon Form too often) to get you to replay it. While I'm NOT going to judge the game on that alone, I KNOW I don't like being hit over the head about it. Replaying a game should always be an option, not something you it makes you feel you HAVE to do.

RE: Other.

Well, of course. The intention of the SOL was to try and make a very challenging game, but ALSO, to make a game with a good story and replay value. And, if you ask me, all three are present.

And, as for the dragon form, you can beat almost every boss without having to use dragon form. When I got to the final boss sequences, my D-Counter was at 21.04%. Not that big a deal, if you ask me.

The only real reason to have to start over before beating it is if you're having trouble beating bosses, and if you plan well and use good strategy, you shouldn't have to.

RE: Other.

Haven't played it, but I think it would depend on how much you like the game. If it's a good game, replaying it would be a good thing. But if it's too much of the same thing, it's just dumb.
