Democrats

I voted on emotion. I'd love to see a Clark/
Sharpton ticket. I think Dean is an opportunist
(ok, maybe they all are) and Sharpton has
cleaned up his act and is talking like a real
progressive and with style. His "clown" rep
is (no longer?) deserved, imho.

RE: Democrats

sharpton? when it comes to republican donors, his name is like hillary's. he will get absolutely no republican votes. he'll energize both the black and the white conservative vote, but because blacks are the minority, the end result will be an even greater advantage for republicans. clark would be great, but he has little domestic policy experience. but he'd be a great veep. how about graham? he's been in government a long time, knows foreign policy like the back of his hand, but was governor of florida for eight years. he is arguably the most popular politician in florida today. a graham/clark ticket has very little chance of losing. remember, southern moderates have the best chance. this ticket is just that, along with a good deal of experience on just about every single issue.

RE: Democrats

I like Dean/Graham (Gen. Clark for the Cabinet) -- balanced North and South and take Florida no questions asked this time! I'm not sure how lejing finds Dr. Dean to be "opportunist" (other than the opportunity to take the country back from the Bush junta and put it back on track.) Check out his positions, and especially speeches, at http://www.deanforamerica.org -- hint: he's not just the "anti-war" candidate, and in fact isn't even anti-war in the face of a clear and imminent threat to the US (which Iraq is not.)

RE: Democrats

Is it actually possible to support Sharpton while calling Dean an opportunist?

I have little against Sharpton, but I'd like to win and even if I was inclined to ride that train it wouldn't get me to the station.

RE: RE: Democrats

I really hope to have someone who inspires me as Democratic Nominee. As a "Yellow Dog Democrat", if they do not have any profound mental defects and beat SHRUB, I will be thrilled.

RE: Democrats

I have to agree that a Dean/Graham, (with Clark in the cabinet) ticket would be great.

I also find it interesting that Gephardt and Lieberman are getting less support here than even Mosley Braun or Sharpton.

Perhaps some of it is due to the types of people that fill out polls online and some of it is a continued repudiation of the old guard Democrats.

However things turn out, it should be an exciting primary.

RE: Democrats

If neither of them win the nomination Graham and Clark are the top two Vice Presidential candidates (Heck, if not for Graham's darn heart, he'd likely be the front-runner).

If the nominee doesn't choose one of the two they're a fool. The only exception is possibly Lieberman who is so much of a hawk and so darn uninspiring that the ticket would benefit from having a good looking energetic guy that's the future of the party on the ticket (Edwards). Lieberman might also get away with running with Feingold (if Feingold agrees to take PAC money). But, I don't see Lieberman winning the nomination.

Here's my order of preference:
1. Anybody-but-Lieberman/Anybody-but-Lieberman
2. Dean/Clark
3. Dean/Graham
4. Kerry/Graham
5. Edwards/Graham
6. Kerry/Clark
7. Edwards/Clark
8. Graham/Feingold
9. Graham/Richardson
10. Clark/Edwards
11. Clark/Feingold
12. Graham/Clark
13. Clark/Richardson
14. Gephardt/Graham
15. Gephardt/Clark

Again, the only reason Graham/Feingold and Graham/Richardson are so low on my list (as opposed to #5 & #6) is because I'm wary about how the electorate will respond to a president with heart problems. Clark is so low because I'm wary about running a candidate against Rove & Co. that's a novice on the campaign trail. If I had to bet, my money would be on Kerry-Graham.
