Cigarettes?

All I know is that they are pretty much outlawed here anyway. You have to be over 19, and you can't smoke them anywhere in public including restaurants and most coffee shops and bars........ it's already a done deal :)

RE: Cigarettes?

And not to mention how expensive they are up here. You are looking at $7-10 for a pack. The prices in combination with the restrictive smoking areas have really helped to work towards a smokeless (cigarette anyway) environment.

Cheers

RE: RE: Cigarettes?

It's been hot all day. There's no air conditioning in any of the condos I live in, so the only solution is to open all the windows and turn on a fan. Then about 7 or 8 o'clock, a neighbor finishes his dinner and steps out on his deck to have a smoke. Now my home is filled with stinky, stale cigarette smell. Yuk! I'm now faced with the choice of enduring the stink, or enduring the heat. Why should I have to make such a choice?

The truth is, cigarette smokers make the world a worse place to live. They think their right to smoke is more important than my right to clean air in my own home. Arrogant, selfish, stinky. Fooey on you smokers!

RE: Cigarettes?

What a crybaby. maybe you should consider getting a place where your neighbor's deck isn't a foot from your window? Or invest in an air conditioner. Instead of bitching about what your neighbor chooses to do. I'm sure he doesn't like smelling the fumes of the crap you probably cook, or order out for if your skills are lacking, so should cooking anything that smells bad be outlawed too?

To claim something should be illegal based on smell is truly ridiculous.

No, you shouldn't apologize. I'm the one who should apologize. I typed without thinking. I'm sorry.

RE: RE: Cigarettes?

The difference being that Cigarette smoke can kill you as opposed to neighbours cooking stinky foods.......... both are awful.

I have a lot of friends that smoke, and I just learn to live with coming home at night and having to air out my jacket and tossing everything straight into the wash before the smell goes through my apartment. The worst is kissing your boyfriend after he smoked, it's like licking an ashtray! EW!

RE: RE: Cigarettes?

When smokers can smoke and somehow their smoke doesn't affect me, then I'll be the first out there with a pro-smoking-rights sign.

I am 100% against seatbelt laws because it should be your own choice whether you want to die or not as long as nobody else is hurt. Same with smoking.

RE: Cigarettes?

Hey Gilly3, maybe you should leave your apartment and get a job that allows you to save for a house! That way your neighbors' smoke won't bother you. See, the problem with this whole conversation is that everyone in this country feels entitled to live life perfectly without interference from those around them. We're all a bunch of spoiled only children drawing lines in the sand. Pathetic.

RE: Cigarettes?

Daisy - it's a condo not an apartment. I do own it. Don't know where you live, but here in Seattle (ish) any house worth living in is going to cost nearly $300,000. According to the calculator at http://www.interest.com/calculators/earn-home.shtml I will need to make more than $96,000 per year to afford a house near Seattle. I have a good job, but I'm not yet making $96,000 a year. For now, I have to stay in my condo.

I never said I'm in favor of outlawing cigarettes. I still believe that smokers are arrogent, selfish, and stinky. They simply make the world a worse place to live.

RE: Cigarettes?

Then get to work and get outta here...what the hell are bitchin' about? You've got a good job, an expensive condo and you're whining about your neighbor's cig smoking? Daisy was absolutely right on.

Damn, you need a hobby...how about taking up smoking?
