why do you have a hermit crab?

Hey its me again, I may have mist something, but why do you have a hermit crab and where can i get one from? What dose it live in? Cos in the end you mite have to get it somehting bigger(im no expert on hermit crabs but i saw a naturer programs that said they change were they live) so then like you could have a pole to decied whatit should live in (just sugesting) cool.
