Wouldn't an innocent person have run screaming, rather than to the stairs to call the maid down? Lizzie told her Father and Bridget that her Stepmother had received a note that someone was sick. Most likely this was her attempt to stop inquiry as to Abby's whereabouts. No note was ever found. Lizzie did not know who was sick. Wouldn't the first question you would ask your Stepmother if she said she was going out on a sick call be "who is sick?" Several times immediately after the murder Lizzie stated she believed her stepmother had returned home.(when was there time for this to happen if she was in the barn?) I believe this is a common happening in domestic murders;setting someone else up to discover the bodies. When the murder was committed Lizzie was: 1. In the yard. 2. In the barn looking for iron to fix a window screen. 3. In the upstairs loft of the barn looking for lead for sinkers; eating pears looking out the window. Take your pick. At exactly the time of the second murder? On one of the hottest days of the year? Which brings us to the first murder. She was the only one inside the house during the time Abby was murdered! She admitted to being upstairs "sewing tape on a garment" Her room was directly across from the guest room where Abby was murdered; wouldn't she have heard or seen something? Why was her father's coat folded under his head rather than hanging on the hook where he usually kept it? Oh please. I could go on and on and on. Emma did it? I don't think it's as complicated as that, it would have involved secret carriage rides without anyone seeing...On a busy street? (Though it's possible she might have had some knowledge or suspicion that Lizzie did it.) John Morse? What motive? He had nothing to gain. Andrew and he were friends. Andrew's illegitimate son? No evidence to support that theory. I believe if Lizzies conflicting stories and attempt to buy poison(very well documented) hadn't been surpressed, she would have been found guilty and punished on earth,instead of having to wait for judgement day. If I am wrong and Lizzie was not guilty. I would feel very badly for all she went through, but lets face it. In the end, after all the hoopla and the trial, who gained? There's your answer.
