Let's look at ALL the facts...

1. Lizzie said that she was in the barn loft at the time. Remember, this is in the dead of summer, following a 100 degree heat wave. Who in their right mind would be in a sweaty barn loft? Appearently 3 boys, after all the commotion, 3 boys were found watching from the loft, must not have been deathly hot!
2. Bridget (the maid) was ordered to wash all of the windows, inside and out, by Mrs. Borden, in 100 degree weather. This day, she was still sick, vomiting from the rotten meat from the previous days dinner, due to Mr. Borden's stinginess to buy a new ice box.
3. Mrs. Borden is cleaning up the room where Uncle John had stayed, this was upstairs in the nice and cool bedroom. Bridget was outside, sick, washing windows.
4. Mr. Borden comes in and has to knock, because all of the doors in the house are kept tightly locked, so Bridget let's him in. But wait, how is Bridget in the house, when she's outside washing windows? Convienent.
5. Once Lizzie finds her father dead, and calls for Bridget, and the police arrive, Bridget won't go upstairs. We wonder why. She was upstairs alone in her room a few moments ago, but suddenly she won't go up. Hmmm. Maybe she knows something we don't.
6. During this time period, Irish maids were treated as blacks before they were freed, they were never investigated, or questioned. The police never once asked where Bridget was staying, nor did they watch her through out the day. That night, she stayed with a friend. She conviently walked out of the house with a "bundle". A bundle of WHAT!? how about a bloody axe and a bloody dress?
7. Downstairs, the axe head was found, but supposedly no axe handle. They later found the handle in a tool box. Hmm.
8. So now we wonder why Lizzie burned a "paint-stained" dress... Well, Lizzie and Emma were in on it, but couldn't do the deed. Knowing that being prominent members of the community, they would never be found guilty, and no one would ever look to Bridget.

Pretty ingenious for a bunch of girls.

was lizzie guilty

I've read alot about it and I'm just gonna say that it's one of those crimes that no one ever figured out everybody should just let it go if she did do it she had her reasons and if she didn't then she didn't also remember that the more money you have the more problems you'll have so since being that her dad was rich someone was probably out for the money and insurance claims.

Lizzie Borden

I have looked at a lot of different angles. The one that doesn't sit well with me is this: When the maid was outside washing the windows. I assume that the back door was left unlocked and I have in my own opinion decided either Emma or John Morse would have killed Abby and Andrew. I have read many different stories in the last few months and I do not believe Lizzie killed her parents. I could be wrong but there are too many unanswered questions. Why did Emma not get home the day her parents died? Where was she all day? She did not come home until 7:00 p.m. the evening of August 4, 1892. If anything Lizzie was there and helped cover it up.

YOU KNOW IT!

I cant believe that people actually think it could be someone other than lizzie borden! You seriously need to go over your notes! NO ONE was present except Lizzie and the maid. The maid wasnt there. Lizze DIDNT spent 40 minutes in her HOT barn on the hottest day of the year in a dress looking for medal. She was too busy hacking away at her parents!!!

innocent? I say yes

I've read serveral books on Lizzie Borden and I believe she was innocent, her sister Emma Borden killed their step mother and then their father. She and Lizzie did agree to kill them, but Lizzie backed out at the last moment. As for the burnung of the dress, it was for show. Emma killed them naked then cleaned up and left. Lizzie dstroyed the murder weapon. She burned the handle off the ax and then threw the head of the ax in the old well. I also believe they had made plans to kill them because their father as sexually abusing them and they were sick of it and because their step mother knew, but did nothing about it. Who's to say Andrew Borden didn't kill Lizzie and Emma's mother because she found out and was going to leave him??

Lizzie was wacko

If she didn't do it, wouldn't she have been too scared to stay there while she and the others were waiting for the police? They hadn't even searched the house to be sure the murderer wasn't still there. How much sense does that make? Sounds like she had post-traumatic stress disorder, not epilepsy - some symptoms of this would be the dissociative "dream-like" state and the lack of close relationships, and her apparent lack of emotions at times. This was probably caused by abuse as a kid, and would explain the extreme violence of the murder.

guilty

I stayed at the Lizzie Bordon house a couple yrs ago....very cool....In my opinion she did it...That house is very tiny. There is no way 2 people were killed in that house with Lizzie present inside without her hearing or seeing anything. Remember in those days there was no radio,tv etc. She was a lazy spoiled spinster lolly gagging around the house with not a thing to do. When I stayed there you could definitely hear everything that went on in that house. As far as the buring of the dress goes...my theory is that she burned that dress in the presence of witness because she already burned the original dress the day of the murder and was covering up the evidence already in the oven in case the police were to sift thru the stove for evidence...which they never did. Go to the Lizzie Bordon house and see for yourself....guilty
