Lizzie's Guilt

"Our version of the chapbook is 8.5 x 5.5 inches and about 50 to 60 pages long. It's just the right amount of space to cover the topics we like investigating, such as whether Lizzie B. did the dreadful deed, whether Queen Victoria was a vampire,"

50 pages of whether Queen Victoria was a vampire? Wouldn't that just be "no" written in very large font thousands of times to fill up all those pages?

As for the murder, the most logical suspect is Lizzie. She benefited most, she had the opportunity, and she'd know that at the time, a lady would barely be investigated for such a crime. Plus the timing is just too perfect - anyone outside the household wouldn't know the exact times when the victims would be alone. Bridget Sullivan might well have been in on it... and maybe someone could make the case that Lizzie actually paid her to do it.

What I find interesting are the different theories as to motive. Was it entirely money? Was it her parents' control over her love life? (Because of her relationship with Nance O'Neil, some theorize she was gay). Or was she just sick of Andrew Borden's notorious stinginess?

Lizzie's Motives

I read a research paper that suggests that Lizzie and Emma Borden were both victims of incest. It makes a lot of sense, and explains a lot not only about the murders, but also about Lizzie's life. For example, she was a kleptomaniac who often shoplifted all around town. She had no need to steal, yet did it addictively. (Kleptomania is a behavior, or illness, if you will, that frequently accompanies molestation) Also, it could explain why neither Lizzie nor Emma ever married. And it certainly would explain why the murders were so violent and brutal, and perhaps why Emma and Bridget Sullivan covered for Lizzie, which it is widely believed that they did. Maybe they knew Lizzie did it, but felt that she was somehow justified?
Of course, we will never know. I just wanted to throw that out there.

Lizzie

Hello out there! My name is Sarah Borden Linsley. My maiden name being Borden. I am not sure on who killed Andrew and Abbey. I hear alot from my family who have ALOT of information on what happened. But I don't think people should judge anybody living or dead! In spite of everything that happened Lizzie is still my ancestor and family.

she's guilty

Lizzie needed to get punished cause she killed her step mother and father. She killed them cause her father got married to quick after their mother died.

Many years ago...

my great grandmother told my grandmother that she'd known the Me of Me and Brownie fame when they were kids and that they'd done the deed.

So I think I shall write a book - "Me and Brownie: The Legend, The Truth, The Final Chapter". ;)

the murders

it is deffinetly obvious that lizzie borden struck both her father and step-mother with a hatchet. For reasons in which she was not pronounced guilty are un known. This case should be solved.

Who did it?

Lizzie Bordon was definitely the murderer in this chilling case. All the clues lead to her. There was no footprints in the dusty loft where she was supposedly when the parents were parents and she burned a dress in secret. I'm sure the will ****ed her off and she decided to get revenge. There was also the medichine which she purchased when she was in perfect health which was probably the first attempt to get rid of them.

no mystery, its common sense

Obviously she was guilty, and it was premeditated with the connivance of the maid, Bridget who protected her.

All the evidence is there, a murdered cat, murdered piegons, the inheritance, the lies etc. etc. etc.

The jury didn't care, one and a half hours and then they were finished, off to the pub.

Bill Did it!

William S. Borden, Andrew's bastard son did it. He was placed at the scene of the crime on the morning of the murder. He had the strongest motive and he was a mental patient who was an animal butcher. He had a reputation for putting animals down with a single blow from his hatchet which he carried with him always. The other 20 recieved by Abby and 11 by Andrew were just for fun and account for the lack of spatter at the crime scene.
