There are a lot of worse things to call either sex, and calling them girls or boys is something I reserve for children, or my childish friends and their antics. When you say "me and the boys are..." it sets a nonserious tone, as if to imply you are setting out w/the main goal of having fun or causing mischief. So really, what's the big deal? Please explain, because I've never really ran into this problem before. I don't know anybody that is offended by the term "chick". |

But to me, "chicks" implies ditziness, someone not to be taken seriously (as does "dude" in my opinion)and it reeks of a frathouse mentality. What we need is a female equivalent of "guy". I refer to myself that way often and believe it has a strength to it. Picture Traci Lords in "Crybaby." Bright red lips...motorcycles...a hot chick. It's like the whole "n" word debate...use it and the power goes away. Although, I still don't like being referred to as a bitch. That's not very cool or very nice. |
