Posted By: Snake Eyez Posted On: Nov 5, 2003 Views: 938	dubbing Here's the way I see it: if the game retained the Japanese voice, we won't be able to fully enjoy the cinema sequences because we've gotta switch between watching the movie and reading the text; this makes the game lose some of its visual appeal. But if the game is dubbed with English voices, the game loses some of its auditory appeal because the English voices are never quite as convincing. I guess the only way to get the most out of the movie sequences would be to understand and speak Japanese fluently and watch the un-dubbed movie sequences. Since there aren't a whole lot of people in America who can do that, I guess the only way to get the full gaming experience is to be Japanese. It's a no-win situation. How very unfortunate.

However, in games that use voice acting for battles (the Tales series and Star Ocean series come to mind), I just plain prefer the Japanese voices. I've never heard good English dubbing for the battle voices (NONE of SO2's English voices are good).

The dubbing can get pretty horrible, and the voice actors can sometimes be pretty repulsive. I also do not enjoy meeting the kind of person who says "It's too hard to read movies." That's just weird and stupid, in my opinion. It would also be cool if you had a choice between the Japanese and English voices, as well as subtitles.

I can't enjoy the beautiful movie sequences if my eyes are at the bottom of the screen, after all.

(I hate it when the Japanese give squeaky voices to their heroes... and I hate it when the american voices use really bad accents!) The best is to have other options- to turn the voices on or off, or to switch between languages.

If it's the English version, then that's fine, too. But I want the opportunity to decide for myself which one is the best.
