Good

I think the joking and the humor is good, without it, everything would be boring....think about your favorite movie...I bet it has SOME comedy in it?

Good.

I think humor in RPGs is great, sometimes RPGs take themselves to seriously, and a joke can liven things up. Look at Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga! That game has humor abound, and i think its a great touch.

Topic Header

I'd like to respond to this topic in a serious manner, but then I thought it would be a lot more fun to just throw cream pies at all the previous posters.

It's all in the timing

RPGs are supposed to emulate real life (plus fantastic elements, of course)and even in the most serious lives, something funny happens. The important thing is the TIMING- a well-placed joke can work wonders, but an ill-placed one can ruin the mood.

Humor in games

It's nice to have an occasional spattering of humor every now and then just to lighten the mood up, just as long as they don't overdo it.

Who can forget the first time we visited Costa del Sol in FF7 and spied on Barret modeling his new "pajamas" in the bathroom mirror? Or when we saw the Devour command for the first time in FF8, complete with a peaceful little intermission (especially when petite little Selphie used it on a huge monster like Ruby Dragon or Malboro)? Or how about when we unequipped all the armor and clothing from our characters in Baldur's Gate and pranced around the street in our underwear.

Hoo boy.........good times. Little things like this make a game memorable.

of course!

I think its great when there is humour in an otherwise serious thing. you don't expect it so it makes it funnier.

Generally...

If something is serious, it's supposed to be believable. Even in the worst times, humorous things can happen. If it were dark and serious all the time, it would come off as melodramatic.

Umm... yeah.

How often is it that you watch a serious movie, or drama and there isn't some humor included? My point exactly. :P

Humour is the best

I think it's good to have some lightheartedness in serious things. And stuff.
