Future can be predicted

I made a big mistake in my last post, of coures the future can be predicted. any dumbass can predict the future.
George Bush will die next week.

Nostrodamus is a cheap loser who is a bunch of bull shi*t.

RE: Future can be predicted

No, you’re just guessing, predicting is something different

RE: RE: Future can be predicted

Of course its possible to predict the future to a certain extent, we just cannot do it with complete ceratainty.
For instance, if i drop a ball i can predict with almost complete certainty that it will hit the floor. Simple laws of physics give us the power to predict the future to a high degree of certainty: astronomers can predict the course of celestial bodies to millions of years into the future, and back on earth meteorologists can predict with increasing certainty the weather for the next few days.
However, as with the weather forecast, there is always some sort of uncertainty which derives from us not knowing the precise behaviour of every particle of "weather". If we did, then presumably we could simply apply our current understanding of physics to simulate the behaviour of all the particles in the weather system on a computer couldn't we?
In fact, no matter how many sensors we have, heisenberg's uncertainty principle prevents us from knowing the precise properties of any particle, all we can do is take probabilities of behaviour of particles.
Therefore we can predict the future to a fair degree of accuracy, but it will never be definite; but what is?
As for human emotion and free will, our brains are just a bunch of atoms too, although many times more complex than mere weather systems. So with the right amount of information, our actions could be predicted to near certainty, but we will always have that small uncertainty, which i spose we could call free will.

RE: Future can be predicted

What your arguing there has nothing to do with predicting EVENTS in the future. I'm not sure if that was your point or not but still all your arguing is that we are getting better at predicting the future because we are getting better at learning behaviors. We are learning better behaviors of planets, the weather, and human behavior but still that does nothing to predict actual events that will occur in the future. For example, saying , "I predict we will have another World War with far greater consequences then imaginable. It could be the end of humanity as we know it." is far different from saying, "The United States launch the first nuclear missile while Russia fires second. In a haze of confusion the other nuclear powers of the world fire their nuclear weapons as well." While I dont really believe any of this the first is just a prediction of behaviors and the second is of events. Nostradamus did not predict events. He knew there would always be war and death and destruction in the world and tried to make himself out to be a fortune teller. Believing in that s*** is stupid.
