Skeptical? Check this...

ok so for all you skeptics out there...let me just start by saying I'm not for sure saying the future can be predetermined but what I'm saying is that it is possible...and when Possibility is built...there comes chance. Even just a slight chance... I watched a show on the History Channel called "Nostradamus: 2012" and i encourage anyone who may be skeptical to watch it...go to History.com and look it up. For once forget your opinions and let you mind be free to roam and explore the possibilities... Let me also add for those of you, like myself who believe in God...I've had people tell only God decides when he coming back ...yes true...but God created people right?...well what if he also every so often he sends warnings? What if he gave the Mayans the knowledge about the calendar and Nostradamus the gave to read the stars and make predictions? Consider the fact that both of these people(s) lived in two completely different time periods, knowing two completly different languages and having different knowledges about the world... What if God is trying to warn us? Haven't you notice that lately how the world's been going to hell lately? with all the natual disasters, terrorist attacks, and leaders comng into power, new diseases that weren't around just one generation ago...like when our parents when children...they didn't have Swine flu, or Autism? Whats happening? What if the world is slowing winding down? God's trying to warn us.....Dec. 21st 2012, remember it. Live every day till then to the fullest and get what you did to done before then b/c what if you skeptics are WRONG? I'd rather be Safe then Sorry, Paranoid then Dead. and if we believers are wrong and you skeptics are right? well then it'll just be another day we'll be there to live thru. No harm done...just like in 2000, when the at the start of the millenum experts thought the world was gonna end...it could just be another myth... But 2012 is quite a bit more believable.

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

The year 2012 will come and go just like any other year and once again all the prophets of doom will say they got it wrong - yet again - and try and figure out the next "end of the world".
How many more times do we have to hear this crap?
Why the hell would God send us warnings anyway? If the world was really coming to an end it would be because he intended it to, if not he would stop it.
Warnings my ass! What the hell could we do about it anyway? Hold a meeting and appoint a committee to look into it?
I get tired of this bloody nonsense.

RE: RE: RE: Skeptical? Check this...

and why is it that having the end of the world predetermined is crazy? Maybe if you would just be more open-minded...and not so stuck in your ways...

What do you think we just live and die?...that the world can't finally just run out of resources...? just run out of reasons to keep going...

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

It´s crazy because the future cannot be predicted. How many people do you know have won the National Lottery, the football pools, every race winner, etc. because they predicted it? I can you tell you how many, none.
How many people predicted 9/11, the death of Princes Dianna, the death of Michael Jackson? None! (Some claimed they have, after the event!)
Yes, I suppose the world could run out of resources, so what, what has that to do with anything? As for the planet needing a reason to keep going, what planet are you on? It´s a lump of rock, it doesn´t have reasons. You talk a load of nonsense.

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

Yeah well all you know what to say is your opinions...and guess what?

Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one and some stink more than others!

and btw, people tried to warn the country about 9/11...they chose NOT to believe them...they thought it was a houst....but wtf does that have to do with the fact that Nostradamus is saying when the world could end....oh that's right...it's got NOTHING TO DO W/ THAT!

So as for you, your talking aLOT more Nonsense!

and what's gonna happen if Dec 21st 2012 comes and the world ends?

Let me just say now: I told you so!!!!...b/c by that time both you and I will both be dead and neither of us will be able to debate over the internet about Nostradamus' theories.

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

From Wikipedia:
Michel de Nostredame (14 December or 21 December 1503[1] – 2 July 1566), usually Latinised to Nostradamus, was a French apothecary and reputed seer who published collections of prophecies that have since become famous worldwide. He is best known for his book Les Propheties ("The Prophecies"), the first edition of which appeared in 1555. Since the publication of this book, which has rarely been out of print since his death, Nostradamus has attracted a following that, along with the popular press, credits him with predicting many major world events. The prophecies have in some cases been assimilated to the results of applying the alleged Bible code, as well as to other purported prophetic works. Most academic sources maintain that the associations made between world events and Nostradamus's quatrains are largely the result of misinterpretations or mistranslations (sometimes deliberate) or else are so tenuous as to render them useless as evidence of any genuine predictive power. Moreover, none of the sources listed offers any evidence that anyone has ever interpreted any of Nostradamus's quatrains specifically enough to allow a clear identification of any event in advance.

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

"Nostradamus, who today is known the world over by a single name, just like a rock star, was a 16th century French doctor and astrologer credited with predicting everything from the rise of Adolph Hitler to the terrorist attacks of September 11. Nostradamus (a Latinized version of his birth name, Michel de Nostredame) laid out his prophet-of-doom predictions, which often dealt with cataclysmic tragedies such as natural disasters and war, in a series of books originally published in 1555. Covering events from his lifetime to the end of the world, these prophecies have been a subject of controversy since they were first produced and their enigmatic creator, who has been labeled both a genius and a quack, remains an ongoing source of fascination. "

******************************************************
KEITH: NOTE "these prophecies have been a subject of CONTROVERSY since they were first produced and their enigmatic creator, who has been labeled both a genius and a QUACK, "
*****************************************************

"The centuries brought Nostradamus greater celebrity and attracted the attention of the French queen, Catherine de Medici, who called the seer to the royal court in 1556 for a consultation. The queen became an admirer and Nostradamus was later appointed court physician and asked to produce horoscopes for the seven royal children. One prophecy said to be of particular interest to the queen was Quatrain 1.35, which was widely believed to predict the accidental death of her husband, King Henry II: "The young lion will overcome the older one/On the field of combat in single battle/He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage/Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death."

******************************************************
KEITH: NOTE No mention of any king, let alone king Henry ll, or jousting or a year, or a place. Just the usual vagueness about someone dying in battle with his eyes pierced through a golden cage. We even have to ASSUME - after the event - that "golden cage" meant visor. Funny description for a visor, a cage, let alone golden! Jousting was sport, not a "field of combat" and his death was an accident not a "battle" How many people reading that quatrian would have interpreted it as a friendly jousting tournament, BEFORE the event? See how people try and make these quatrains fit events after they have happened, even when they don´t actually fit the events.
******************************************************

Nostradamus reportedly (KEITH: NOTE "REPORTEDLY") warned the king he shouldn't engage in any duels in his 41st year. Nostradamus' reputation was furthered when this prediction appeared to come true in 1559, when the king, in his 41st year, was killed in a jousting accident. In the wake of this event, some detractors called Nostradamus evil and destructive; however, his supporters continued to seek him out and the queen remained a fan, even visiting him in Salon-de-Provence in 1564."

"According to legend, (KEITH: NOTE "LEGEND") Nostradamus once encountered a young Franciscan monk herding pigs in Italy. To the surprise of onlookers, Nostradamus respectfully addressed the lowly monk as "Your Holiness." In 1585, years after Nostradamus died, that monk, Felice Peretti, became Pope Sixtus V."

"Legend (KEITH: NOTE "LEGEND") holds that Nostradamus was buried with a document containing the secrets to his prophecies. In 1700, officials in Salon-de-Provence decided to relocate his coffin to a more optimal location. In the process, they decided to look inside. No document was located; (KEITH: NOTE "NO DOCUMENT WAS FOUND" SURPRISE SURPRISE!) however, a medallion inscribed with "1700" was reportedly (KEITH: NOTE "REPORTEDLY") found around Nostradamus' skeleton, leading people to believe the prophet had correctly predicted the year his coffin would be opened."

Fun Fact:
"According to the New York Times, in the days following the 9/11 attacks, the top search term on Google was "Nostradamus."

RE: RE: Skeptical? Check this...

I have made some notes to your comments, it makes it a lot quicker and simpler to do. Note how the words "legend" and "reportedly" are repeated over and over, hardly factual is it? In other words all your comments are worthless! And where do you get all this useless tripe from? A site that is promoting an upcoming TV series about Nostradamus! Oh yes, a very reliable source of factual information. My quote - saying how not a single quatrain has been specific enough to make any predictions - comes from Wikipedia, a highly respected site.
Just how dumb are you?

Your chosen example is a joke. It´s about an unnamed someone, not even mentioned as a king (you would think being a king would be important) dying in combat in a battle (with no date or place or time given) and trying to make it seem as if a king´s accidental death in a friendly jousting tournament is it, is really pathetic. That is how all his "prophecies" work, fools like you come along AFTER the event and try and twist it to make it fit.
You just don´t get it and never will, you want to believe all that crap and will continue to do so because you do not posses the wit to see how bloody stupid the whole thing is.

Oh and your sources are GREAT! Wikipedia? People can post their own information on that site and you call that a GOOD SOURCE? at least mine's is the History channel! How Bloody Stupid can you be?

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

Wikipedia is a very reliable source of information, all points raised have to show the source it came from and all comments are subject to constant peer review.
To take quotes from a TV company promoting it´s own TV series about Nostradamus is a joke. All the "prophecies" they mention start with "legend" and "reportedly". You may as well take quotes from a Superman comic. With Wikipedia they state, AS A FACT, that not a single quatrain has ever been specific enough to make a single correct prophecy. FACT!
I note you failed to make any reply to my comments showing how totally unrelated his quatrain about the death due to an eye injury was to reality.
So if you think he was so good why don´t you prove it.

A CHALLENGE

Show me his prophecy for the the end of the world in 2012, the one you started this thread with, go ahead we are waiting with bated breath for this marvellous proof. SHOW US WHERE HE SAYS THE WORLD WILL END IN 2012
Yeah right. He never made such a prophecy, you should stop being so bloody stupid and check your facts. You know, FACTS, not myth and legend that you are so deeply into. God you are so unbelievably stupid!

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

Ok your so ****ing stupid, we can argue and debate until we are blue in the face...the FACT is I believe the world could end in dec. 21 2012, and that's my opinion and i started this thread to show how others are backing up this possibility.

The fact that your completely ruling everything i say out is stupid when neither you nor i know.

Why is it that you must belittle everyone else including me who has opposing views to you? who the **** are you to tell me if my opinion is right or wrong...your nobody...and if you going to be immature and stupid and call me names then im not going to even waste my time on someone as ignorant as you!

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

I do not care if anyone has opposing views to me, it is when they they make daft claims that are obviously factually wrong that I argue.
You claimed that both Nostradamus and the Mayans predicted the end of the world in 2012 but the truth is NEITHER made any such prediction.
Your claim therefore is totally wrong, that is why I can say, with good reason, that you are stupid.
If you can find anywhere anything I have said that is factually wrong, then you may challenge me and call me stupid.
Until then you are the only stupid one here.

RE: Skeptical? Check this...

Ha ha, very amusing!
The person who started this thread said Nostradamus predicted the end of the world in 2010. That person has not looked into it at all, even on Keith´s site, right at the start, he says the predictions go on to the year 3797.
What a waste of time when people argue out of of ignorance.
Give it up, Keith is right in that you ARE looking stupid and Nostradamus DID NOT predict the end of the world in 2010, and the Mayans didn´t either.

RE: RE: RE: Skeptical? Check this...

In fact, Keiths' site does not say anywhere that Nostradamus predicted the end of the world at 2012, what is says is that the Mayan calendar says that. Specifically, it says the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, but that is simply the end of that cycle not the end of the world. The Mayan calendar DOES NOT predict the end of the world. It simply stops at the end of that particular cycle. It is other people who added all the end of the world crap.
2012 and Nostradamus have nothing to do with each other. Nostradamus' predictions go until 3797 and that is also NOT an end of the world prediction, it is simply where he chose to stop. Neither Nostradamus or the mayan calendar have anything to do with end of the world predictions. That is nonsense that people added themselves.
