DVD???

Why has this never been released on a DVD? Are there any plans to release it in this format?

RE: DVD???

I totally agree - I can't believe that this masterpiece isn't available on DVD yet. Surely, DVD is the natural medium for a film as visually stunning as this.

RE: DVD???

That's right, this film and the more recent "Baby of Macon" both need to be released in DVD. I owned the laserdisk of Prospero years ago and can't abide watching it on VHS. If anyone knows the director or distributor this can be arranged pretty simply. I used to run a post production facility here in Santa Monica and can get the work done at a good rate (standard is $800-$1,000/minute for a transfer). Add another $10,000 to author the DVD and get it packaged and I'm sure we could sell them out (5,000 discs @ $30 ea. = $150,000). Anybody game?

RE: DVD???

A Blu-Ray release in the US and Canada is in order. There is an Australian DVD available that is excellent as part of a Greenaway collection.

For US viewers, however, most will need to rip the DVD with HandBrake and watch from their computer and/or Apple TV. The bonus is that you get several Greenaway films as part of the package. This is much better than the rip-OFF DVD available in the US which is just a poor transfer from a VHS tape.
