I understand what you say about helping parents monitor what they watch by installing v-chips (I'm SO not a technical person, what the F! is a v-chip?) and such. I think the morning gig Stern has may be their (FCC) rationale for attacking--but seriously, are kids more likely to skip school to listen to the radio, or to stay up late and turn on Skinamax? I think that it's an excuse like all the rest. virago-I'm down wit' the CCC vibe too. Glad to see that even those who don't like the show realize what a problem this is. I'm too much of a bruiser to move to a new country--I'm staying here til they drag my dead, bloated, gray ass away.

Phuck the FCC! yeah, that was my point about starting a new country- we seem to be coming full circle. i was so annoyed this am when tom wouldn't let howard air the oprah clip- (although i did have to go into work, so i didn't hear the end, maybe they did ultimately air it), but when i left they were recommending that they put it up on their website and have people complain to the fcc that it was offensive- that's not the point. i was very into the idea of playing it and seeing whether they were fined for it or not. putting it on their website and telling people to complain about it doesn't prove a point, it just proves that misery loves company, and they're trying to drag others down with them. playing it on the air would have exposed the hipocrasy for what it was if howard (and not oprah) was fined, and would have gotten oprah and her gigundo audience involved if she was fined- it was a win-win situation.

It blocks things based on the shows "rating" That little thing you occasionally notice at the start of programs these days. It comes installed in most newer tvs. Yes, some people have old tvs, if they want to censor, they can invest in a newer one though instead of insisting that everything be censored. Daisy, yes, kids are more likely to stay up late. I was referring moreso to the Summer months/weekends. My bad for not stating that plainly. Yes, CC and Cable in general has looser censorship. This is good and fair for a few reasons.... A. Adult content programs are generally aired later in the evening. You know, when little kids should be in bed or parents should be around and aware of what their kids are doing. B. Cable is a pay service. Radio is free. Thus, radio is forced to adhere to stricter guidelines since it's something available to the public at large for free. Cable being paid for, people generally want things they PAY for to involve less "big brother" guidelines. Yes, parents should be able to teach their kids about things, and not shelter them. But if I were a parent I wouldn't want to be forced to teach them things they weren't of age to comprehend and absorb properly simply because Howard Stern talked about it some summer morning. Sorry, SOME guidelines for decency are needed in the area of free media outlets. To simply say, "don't like it?...Don't listen" isn't the easy solution it's made up to be.

Im 13 and i beleive that howard Stern is just a disgusting freak and should be taken off air........ he is a man that america can do without..... most of oyu are just using this as a way to rant at the goverment...... the truth is this is not violating our freedoms.... howard is a nasty shock jock and we should have gotten rid of him long ago.... so stop blowing this thing up into epic proportions and going off on little stupid rants against the goverment..... georgey boy is idiot but you are all even greater fools.
