As long as it has a solid plot, and doesn't resort to "bumbling sidekicks", I'm all for it. This pritty much goes for any type of game, really. |

Posted By: Crowmagnum Posted On: Mar 22, 2004 Views: 1030 | both i like both. both types have there ups and downs but so long as the stories are good i will play them. |
Posted By: Eternal_Sphere_6969 Posted On: Mar 22, 2004 Views: 1028 | Both I prefer to play both kinds of games because I believe someone shouldn't be deprived of just playing a real nice cute game or, a dark serious game. Its nice to be able to play lighthearted fun games, but also serious games that you have to think to get to understand the meaning of it. |
Posted By: Uriel Posted On: Mar 22, 2004 Views: 1026 | Lighthearted I like both, but I lean more to lighthearted games because they stay out of depressing, real-life problems ^.^ |
Posted By: Spoony Posted On: Mar 22, 2004 Views: 897 | Well... I like somewhere in between. Final Fantasy VII, for example. I wouldn't consider that 'adult', nor 'lighthearted'. |
Posted By: Wilfredo Martinez Posted On: Mar 22, 2004 Views: 904 | Both I like both, as long as they're done well. In fact, I tend to alternate- I followed the excellent (but dark) Xenogears with the (mainly) light-hearted Thousand Arms, for example. I also think that a good game can have BOTH serious and silly moments... just like real life. |

Posted By: RPGKnight Posted On: Mar 21, 2004 Views: 934 | In-between I don't care, as long as they get it right. Either one, done properly, can end up making a great plot. Plus, as long as the gameplay is great and the plot isn't dreadful... |
Posted By: Dalton Of Zeal Posted On: Mar 21, 2004 Views: 932 | Well.... I think it really depends on how the game uses the theme. Some games just shove the "adult" atmosphere down your throat, and offer little to no gameplay. Or sometimes, a lighthearted game will be fun, but may get on your nerves, never letting you forget that it's a "kiddie" game. Some of my favourite RPG stories are the ones that never take themselves seriously, but manage to tell a story well. Take Lunar, for example; it's a simple and easy to follow story, but it's just told so well that it really feels like an epic tale, and ultimately ends up being one of the greatest RPG stories of all time. |
