RE: why did you vote none of the above?

I picked someone just because I would rather have dinner with Ben Affleck than stay home alone if those are my only 2 choices. But actually I have no interest in anyone from that list.
My first pick would be Axl Rose. Who knows what the heck would happen at dinner with that pshyco!

How about like Ashton Kutcher...cuz you never know what celeb he is gonna be screwing with, and since (for God knows what reason) chicks dig him, so you liable to catch some hot chick who got turned down. Free tail!

Personally spending dinner with a Hollywood celebrity holds very little excitement for me. Not to say that these people are not bright, and may very well keep me entertained, but there would not be a lot that I could learn from them. I would much rather spend my time with political leaders, great minds in philosophy and other people of such nature.

RE: why did you vote none of the above?

Touché Nik, I suppose I was a tad quick to label everyone as a Hollywood celebrity, but only in the typical definition of it. How I was viewing it, was to say these people have contributed very little to society as a whole. You have a list of people consisting of a boxer, actors, singers, and a tycoon. J. D. Salinger wrote a book that is forced upon children in high school. That is essentially what I meant by Hollywood celebrity. Not necessarily someone who is in the movies, but someone who has contributed on an entertainment level rather than a social one.

This is, I know, not the best explanation as many a hole can still be punched through. And I reiterate, I am not degrading what these people do, it is important to society indeed, however it is still not a skill that I so highly value that would interest me to meet them. Rather I would be more inclined to meet such people as Queen Victoria, Dalai Lama, Ghandi, Plato, Socrates, and Thomas Hobbes. These are the people that I believe make a difference in how the world operates.

On a second look at the list, I would choose Colin Powell, for much the same reason that I would also like to meet with Hitler. I just want to understand the tyranny behind the actions.

RE: why did you vote none of the above?

Hey Aurora, Colin Powell was on the list...was that your choice since he is political?

I chose Reese Witherspoon! Maybe she would bring her English Bulldog.

I lived in the Northwest for 5 years and then moved to Arkansas for awhile. What a culture shock! When I lived in Tacoma, which received awards for their recycling efforts, I recycled freakin' everything. When I moved to BFE, Arkansas, they didn't recycle squat. You could have put your old stove, a mattress, whatever, out on the curb without even calling the company and it wouldn't even cost you any extra. What a switch!

Thankfully, I don't live in Arkansas anymore...don't ever move to Arkansas!

RE: why did you vote none of the above?

The 'None of the above. I'll stay home.' option was written that way so as not to be a 'Someone not on the list.' option. There are so many millions of other people that respondents might choose that a 'Someone not on the list.' option would win no matter what. Your options are A) Have a dinner date with someone on the list, B) Stay Home, or C) Call the poll stupidest poll ever.

There is no D) List my personal hero in an attempt to appear intelligent or sophisticated.

RE: why did you vote none of the above?

Beerliquor, If I was forced to chose someone I suppose it would be Colin Powell, just because I would find him the most interesting, but I do not think either of us would come away from the table happy.

That is why, ChroMoly, I did in fact chose “stay at home” because the people listed do not interest me. The reason I listed the people I would like to meet, was in an effort to better illustrate why I did not want to meet the people listed. I apologize if you inferred that I was attempting to sound intelligent or sophisticated, as that was not my intention.

RE: why did you vote none of the above?

How about to ask them why they do all the stupid things they do? Or to give them your ideas about how they should stop lining their pockets and start actually doing something for the people? A politician's job is to serve the people by being the voice of said people. So many politicians have forgotten that and failed miserably in my book.
