| Posted By: vixy13 Posted On: May 24, 2004 Views: 1276 | RE: pond is good for you actually, people-mad (or commonly called man-made) ponds are not usually so nasty...if a human made pond is taken care of (draining now and then, etc) and some mild chemicals, then usually leeches, reptiles, etc do not habitate it. man made ponds usually have a sand like substance on the bottom, almost like the beach, which are not suitable environments for forest/wood/everglade wildlife to live in. however, if you have lots of hanging trees, it will get filled up with stuff like leaves and other icky stuff. all in all, human made ponds are very clean (as clean as a clean area of ocean) if set up properly and maintained. |

Also...no matter how good you clean you still have a LOT of algae in it. So unless you like swimming in a light slime and coming out of the water smelling like fish ****...ponds arent good for swimming. Oceans are constantly moving and are salt water, ponds are fresh water (algae heaven) and stagnant aside from your standard pumps. |

You can probably guess why it's called a "cow pond". That's right, because cows swim in it too, but that's not all they do there. It was a blast as a kid to go swimming in the pond. We'd go to the middle on the paddle boats and jump off. I wouldn't even stick a toe in now. It's amazing what you'll do as a kid. Before you're jaded by the knowledge of germs. Kids know no fear. |
