I've had a screwed up day.

Sorry about the two posts but I think that this needed a fresh place to start.

I work at Tudors Buizcit (spelling, whatever) World. I came in at 7:00am this morning. We were so crouded all day that the manager had to go to another store to get bacon, as we had ran out. At 10am is my normal break so I asked the as. manager if I could go. She said no. I waited till 10:30 and we had slowed down a bit. She still said no. At 11 I asked her again and told her that I had been here four hours and I was so tired that my hands were shaking and I was dropping eggs. She said that I didn't get a break today. That we don't get breaks on saterday. I thought, the ****? I'm not working 8 hours at 5:15 without a break, screw you. I went and got my other stuff done like making the green beans and stuff for the evening shift becouse I didn't want to make it harder for everybody else. I then clocked out, put my hat on the clock and started out the door.

Enter the Manager.

She asked me why I was on break so late, at 11:30. I told her that apparently I don't get a break today. bla, bla, bla. She was ****ed at the as. manager. While I was waiting on my ride she and the baker came out and asked me not to quit and to take the rest of the day off, but please come back in the morning. I went and got my hat, got me a Dew, and my got in my rides car. This all happend about a hour ago so sorry for the long post but I have to vent. If you have read this far, sorry and thanks.

Would you walk out if that happend?

RE: I've had a screwed up day.

LMAO i never have before. Ive gone days without breaks. First, i had a lot of customer service type jobs (movie theatres, blockbuster) and when it gets busy usually they dont care...its just keep working. "you will get a break when it slows down" which would be after my shift was already over. So im used to pulling 8+ hour days without breaks. My last job i was production so i couldn't be down, had to have someone replace me. I got used to getting my breaks 1-2 hours late if i got one. By federal law they cant do that, but most places do anyway. You just put up with it. You need experience in the business DM, a degree alone wont cut it.

RE: I've had a screwed up day.

If I were making 12 bucks an hour like I will in three years then It wouldent be a problem. I won't work like that for $5:15.

$5.50/hr at the theatre, and $6.15 at blockbuster. Worked there for about a year each. that was common. So what do you expect...its a common business practice these days.

RE: I've had a screwed up day.

Last summer I was incredibly desperate for money and actually worked at the golden arches for a whopping $5.15. Yes, there were days when I went without breaks (but because the manager said so, not the ass. manager), and I wanted to really walk out because that is total bs (but I didn't cause when you're poor and need money you'll do anything).
I totally feel for you, because it's just crazy, especially because the ass. manager was being such an a-hole. I think you were well within your right to walk out. Really, you did the right thing, that is just crazy.

RE: I've had a screwed up day.

I'm going back this morning. I don't see how you people do it without breaks. I was almost ready to go to job service and report them, until the manager straightend it out. No wonder people my age won't work at a place for long.
