| Posted By: Mo' Posted On: Jun 16, 2004 Views: 683 | greatest neighbors ever i lived in low income housing (didn't know that when i moved in) then got a huge raise and bought a townhome within a month (knew the raise was coming for 7 years, my company is unionized). neighbors at the apartment were obnoxious. the actual reason i bought a place when i did was cuz one of the neighbors kids was being obnoxious in the hall and i asked her (for the millionth time, it seems) to be quiet and stop banging on the wall outside my living room. her mother came to my door and verbally attacked me. when i tried to shut the door she tried to push inside. and continued to yell at me from outside my apartment. instead of calling the cops (who would take care of her obnoxious kids if she went to jail? and how could i continue to live there for any amount of time if that happened?) i called a friend who just started real estate. within 2 weeks i had purchased my townhome. now to the great neighbors- townhomes are very close togehter, only problem is the lady next door but she's gone a lot (yay!) so one day i wandered within earshot of the people across the street, got offered a beer and went home 5 or 6 hours later. they have become two of my closest friends (man and woman who are engaged). two of the sweetest people i know. everyone in the two buildings that face each other (except aforementioned woman next to me and one other couple) are all buddies, so when we party no one complains cuz they're usually all there! if any of us lonely we just go sit outside and shortly we've got a group. it's a brand new development, too, so all our homes are brand new. it's like the taj mahal compared to the barrio i used to live in! but the neighbors make all the difference in the world. if they're loud and i'm not out there either i join them or i make some white noise and ignore it. i only hope i'm as lucky one day when i get an actual house with a yard and different neighbors. hopefully their pets won't crap in my yard and their kids won't toss their garbage in my yard... |
