And France is way overrated because it smells there. Really and it's kinda dirty too. Plus they don't shave their legs and under arms. I'm a chick and I think that's gross. Ever since they refused to support us in the war on Iraq, most people seem to have a low opinion of anything French. I forget who it was, but someone was ragging on John Kerry because he "looked French". I do not have a low opinion of France or of the French, but given what everyone seems to be saying, I thought I was in the minority. However, most of your complaints apply to all of Europe. A friend of mine said that Italy smells almost entirely like fish, and anyone I know who has been to anywhere in Europe (except the U.K.) says that the people don't use deoderant or shave their armpits. But most people know this, so, given its great food (if you're willing to try snails), beautiful art and great history, France seems to be, if anything, underrated. |

I can't say when it originated but it goes back to at least the second world war. Can we say "Maginot Line" and "Vichy French"? How 'bout refusing to sign the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty and testing above ground in the Pacific some years ago? Or how about the war in French-Indochina? It is all a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black if you ask me. I'm sure for every stereotypical Ugly American there is an equally sterotypical rude Parisan. Personally, I like the French people I've met, I love their food, wine, culture, etc. |

I've stayed on a very rural farm in the Hautes-Alps region and I the people there were friendly to me even though they thought that I was an American. Grenoble, Marseilles and Lyon were very pleasant also, but Paris is definitely overrated. |

Krisbish96, It's like that here where we live. The most men have bigger boobs than the women and the women have more body hair then the men. The new dm, France is in the short term overated. To people like Krisbish96 and me France is normaly ok, a lot of the ways we cook food started there, or in the area. Dr. Zhivago, Your right. Most of the world stinks, not just France. In my worthless opinion France is an Ok place. They hate us becouse our leaders here in the U.S. are dickheads. They hate us as a group but the ones I've meet think that we are a decent nation, for a new one. We tend to hate a group of people but one on one they are just like anybody else. |
