| Posted By: Martial_Artist Posted On: Dec 29, 2004 Views: 794 | Get sereous When I look at the posts on this forum, and I see the discussions, and the "fights" on the forum, than I see the same as when I open my front door, and I see little kids arguing with each other, saying things like: "You stole that red toy car from me!" (replies:) "No I did not! It was mine, I bought it!" (replies:) " No you stole it you coward!" -"No I did not, I cant help that your so dumb to not recognise your own car" - "But you are ugly, and your mom is too" -"But your dad works at the supermarket" -"But you don't even have a dad" -"you are carrying the same shoes everyday! I got more shoes than you have!" In other words the way that most of the people here discuss a certain subject, is that of a child. Pity..because it could be very usefull to have a good forum where sceptics, and non-sceptics meet each other in a mature way, and have discussions of high quality. That way both sides could learn. So please try not to be too blinded with your own personal anger against the other side, but discuss with quality and respect. That way this forum might get somewhere..because just now, it is truly rubbish. greetings, MA |

But to be fair, it takes a certain amount of immaturiy to believe in the silly TK experiments that are going on. Perhaps we should only open this forum to people who can spell properly. As I can read, nobody want to be NOBLE and follow simple debate rules to get somewhere. If you are interested for real-noble debates, go over the web and search for serious-educational-rhetoric site. For the bad spelling, I pretty sorry. English is not my first language and I feel sad about it... I'll try to look up for words that I'm not quite sure how to spell. But we need to get the point, what are we debating on? Is TK real? Because I don't think that we can make it only by using words... I'd rather want to know what keep us in two groups (three if you count all does peoples that only look and don't take any possition) I think we can answer this since we are on one side, or on the other. So at your keyboard guys. |
| Posted By: rob Posted On: Dec 30, 2004 Views: 759 | RE: Get sereous nothing is real or fact untill its proven, so somebody saying that tk is real with out any real proof is wasting everybodys time and thier own, if you think you have a gift then try to understand WHY you have it before you start saying you have powers, eliminate everything, even top scientists refuse to believe thier own work and discoveries. so because you can spin a wheel DONT assume straight away you have a gift, find out what it is. |

Martin I think that you have missed the point of, well, most of the posts on this discussion board. You are quite right that talking about it will not prove whether TK exists or not, but we're not engaging in 'Yes it does!' - 'Oh no it doesn't!' arguements on here (apart from when your average demented TK'er comes along with a rant like 'TK exists and we all have it!'). What mostly gets discussed are the ridiculous conditions in which people will believe in 'demonstrations of TK'. It's amazing how easily people will jump to the most insane conclusions when there are a multitued of rational explanations available to them. It says more about people rationality and mindset than it does science. A TK'er tries a 'difficult' TK experiement - it doesn't work. He tries again - still doesn't work. He tries more and more times (perhaps making the test 'easier' i.e by making it more susceptible to other natural factors but they ignores this) and it fails a dozen more time before, hey presto, it works once. The conclusion? Of course TK exists and they have the power to perform it. So then what, they take up Randi's offer of proving their power for $1,000,000? Nope, they have plenty of reasons (excuses *cough) not to. They're happy in their own belief of their amazing power, their ignorance is their bliss and it's a damn sight easier than actually achieving anything yet with the same reward. |

It says more about people rationality and mindset than it does science. ] That's very true. I get annoyed at the people who don't bother investigating the factors that may be causing the effect. A lot of kids say 'WOW.. It MOved!' but when you question them, you realise that they haven't excluded other possibilities at all. And often get angry when you suggest that they do. Let's just say that by claiming that I *practice* TK, does not necessarily mean I've proven that I'm really controlling objects with mind over matter. Practicing isn't quite the same thing. I'm open to investigation, and being proven wrong. But it has to truly satisfy my questions. Of course I *am* biased because I believe I can control it, not just watch it like a movie. And of course, opinions are like arseh*les. Everyone has one, and they all stink... Greg |
