Advice, please

To all of the believers:

How should I go about 'practicing' telekinesis?

What methods would you suggest?

I'm currently trying self-hypnosis, and I would like to know if anyone has advice on certain scripts or suggestions to use for developing psi powers.

Non-believers, I would like to know of anything you have to say regarding these methods.

I don't care whether or not you think I'll succeed, so please don't predict the outcome. I would like to be as optimistic as possible about the outcome, but right now I am very skeptical.

Yes, this post is highly unorganized, as are my thoughts on this subject.

RE: Advice, please

Google it. Anything of this sort has loads of sites and forums on the internet. Browse around and pick the site you like best. Good luck!

RE: Advice, please

Thanks, Keith. I've been trying to become a member there for a few days now after I found it in a few other threads here.

I'm definitely going to maintain an outsider's perspective on this subject, but I really do want to believe in it. I think having a chat with some of the members will clear up my view of these particular hobbyists.

Woodpecker, how do you think I found this site?
Thanks for the good luck wishes!

I'll reply in here if I make any REAL progress. ^_^

RE: Advice, please

ppsociety has gone to hell, I think.

I posted a similar topic to this over two days ago, and still no one has replied. I know there are people that still go there because several other posts are made elsewhere every time I log on!

Thanks for the wishes, Keith, but I'm afraid I won't be able to prove you wrong unless I somehow find a way to commit myself to it. I doubt that's every going to happen, though. ;D

RE: Advice, please

They prefer more positive posts, they are the ones that get replies, or those genuinely seeking advice. That fact that you have mentioned my name won't help, it has tarnished you.
Try again, just saying how you are getting started and want help with the psi wheel. Use a different topic to post it in and see how it goes.

RE: Advice, please

I mentioned you, and they didn't shun me :P
But I did get some people trying to explain why I should avoid you.

They do have one point - it's difficult to commit to something when you have a critic blasting you about the fact that it's impossible.

But on the other side of the coin, if you let go of all inhibitions, you end up believing anything :P

RE: Advice, please

Hey Keith everyone needs a hobby man... so what if ppsociety wants to give kids false hope they will all eventually grow up and realize that TK is not real and on the off chance that it is real then all of us skeptics are screwed...

RE: Advice, please

So you think its OK to encourage kids to believe they have paranormal powers?
That seems a good idea to you does it, to encourage false beliefs and tell them that our knowledge of basics physics is wrong and they are right? You don't think kids are screwed up enough already?
Give me strength!
Thank Christ you were never my teacher!

RE: Advice, please

haha

I wish they weren't so "scientific" about their beliefs. I think they should still hand out their knowledge of the matter, but without all the "science is wrong" and "skeptics will be disproven by you soon!".

I don't think anyone should be denied the right to share what they want with the world, but denying the accuracy of modern science is stupid.

PPSociety isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but you're right, there's little room for doubters. I go to a new forum that's much more open-minded, but for how much longer? I couldn't tell you.

Good for you.
You seem to be keeping your objectivity which is obviously a good thing. I hope you have found a site that you like and is genuinely helpful.
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

RE: Advice, please

hello everyone umm i'm a 16 yearold who is really open minded as well and i'd much rather try it for myself and see wether or not it is real because from what i have read there is a very likely possibility that it can exist because scientists have proven that we use less than 10 % of our brains which leaves alot openness in our minds and maybe we are given that one gift it's just like people with brain hemmerages how they go from an oridanary person so some super genious but at the same time as keith has stated many times noone has proven it to scientists which raises more questions i would very much love to have the ability to move stuff with my mind i mean cmon who wouldnt want to be able to drop a T.V. remote and be able to keep your sitting position and have the remote float back into your hand..thats a luxury that anyone in their right mind would want haha also i have been reading on some documented occurences within the government about Remote Viewing,TK, and other psychic occurences and maybe we have created some technology that the government owns that can unlock this hidden power. but in the mean time i will try TK for a few months and document my progress..if there is any at all but from what i read i can say that it may waste my time but i do not want to lose hope that it may be real...ohh and if it is real i'll be the first to get the million bucks hehe :p

RE: Advice, please

Well, hello again. I spent some time at the other forum called PsiStudies and I did enjoy it. The "open-mindedness" they profess so eagerly to having is only superficial. No matter how many of their videos and concepts you put to serious thought, they will maintain their beliefs on the basis of "anecdotal evidence", which is an oxymoron. If someone told you they were drowning in a river yesterday, then a dolphin came up and pushed them to shore and said "You're very welcome, sir.", you wouldn't believe that for a second. For one, dolphins don't live in rivers. :D

And that's basically were most are getting their beliefs. People will describe how "The other day, I had a 4x5 cm piece of paper on my desk that lifted about 2 cm. I think this was my doing because I moved my hands up and down and created 'psi-strings'."

Then, everyone gives them a load of praise and they become very popular. Every once in a while, someone actually has a video of these phenomena, but they are all easily debunked when given a certain amount of thought.

For instance, let me ask you something. If you had the ability to move objects with your mind alone and had been meditating on it and visualizing the objects lifting or sliding all over the place, would it be necessary to use a "technique" that is exactly the same as something you would do without powers? Say, holding the ends of "psi-strings" that are attached to a piece of paper or foil? This is what is claimed in a video or two I saw and I just can't see how people believe it. It is so obvious he has the easily-obtained invisible string magicians use, yet the believers will insist it is just a technique he uses because of its similarity to a real action.

I am also tired of reading/hearing the "fact" that we only use 10% of our brain. That has already been disproven, but the article wasn't as popular as the mistaken one before it. >.<

I have decided to stop tricking my mind and have now come to terms with reality and the world around me. I no longer look for supernatural occurences or paranormal activity. I look for real, measurable causes and the science behind them. This new outlook has surprised me, to be honest. I think more clearly and more quickly now, and I entertain my mind with so many scenarios I never would have thought about before.

If you really want a mental workout, try creating a world within your head from the bottom up, starting with simply hydrogen atoms until you reach sentient beings. I'm on the eighth day and still no rest! haha

RE: Advice, please

Thanks for the update. I am glad you reached a sensible conclusion after doing your own research into the subject.
You are right about the TK sites that praise all reported 'TK' and put down healthy skepticism saying they need to 'open their minds'. Wish I had a £1 for every time I heard that one!
Its a self deluding feed-back loop they get into and some of them manage to convince themselves they have TK and get very angry with me when I question it.
Tell you one thing, you will never convince them they don't have TK. They prefer to think they are special.
I honestly think its sad!
