Uri Geller

"Furthermore, doesn't it strike anyone as being just a little bit odd, that despite all the claims made by all the TKers throughout the world today, that not one of them has ever walked into a laboratory anywhere and demonstrated it? Not one person? NOT ONE, not ever!"

You should get your facts right Keith.

In 1972, during a five week period Uri Geller walked into the S.R.I. Laboratory, and the infamous Puthoff and Targ conducted some very interesting tests on Uri. Under the most strident controls. Here is just a snippet:

"We also performed two experiments in psychokinesis. In one test a one-gram weight was placed on an electric scale. It was covered by an aluminum can and by a glass cylinder to eliminate deflection due to air currents. The first part of our protocol involved our tapping the bell jar; next tapping the table; then kicking the table; and finally jumping on the floor, with a record made of what these artifacts looked like so that they could be distinguished from actual signals. Geller's task was to try to influence the scale merely by holding his hands above the bell jar (never touching it) and concentrating. He was able to do this. Once our recording device showed an apparent weight decrease of 1500 mg, and another time an increase of800 mg. These two readings had not been observed as possible artifacts. In fact, in no case were our intentional artifact readings similar to the signals produced by Geller, nor could anyone else duplicate the effects Geller produced.
We have no ready hypothesis about how these signals might have been produced. It is of interest to note that Geller's ability to influence the scale improved over the period of experimentation, starting with 50 mg deflections and arriving at 1500 mg. "

RE: Uri Geller

URI GELLER'S INFLUENCE ON THE METAL ALLOY NITINOL
by Eldon Byrd, Physical Scientist
Naval Surface Weapons Center,
White Oak Laboratory, Silver Spring, Maryland.
Eldon Byrd has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Medical Engineering. He has written on a variety of subjects; a paper on the telemetry of brain waves was published in the "Proceedings" of the International Telemetering Conference in 1972. He is also the author of the book How Things Work and a member of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers and of Mensa.
This paper recounts two meetings between Eldon Byrd and Uri Geller; the first took place in late October of 1973 at the Isis Center of the Naval Surface Weapons Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, and the second occurred a year later, at the home of a friend of Geller's in Connecticut. Byrd's paper recounts some unique and cogent experiments with Geller and his influence on the unusual alloy nitinol. To cause permanent change in the shape of nitinol wire, which Geller repeatedly did, normally requires that one heat the wire to a temperature of about 900 degrees F and reshape it under considerable tension. However, as Byrd reports, Geller was able to introduce permanent deformations in several pieces of nitinol wire by gently rubbing them between two fingers.
...
The paper appears here with the official approval of the Naval Surface Weapons Center. It was reviewed by Metallic Materials Branch Chief David Goldstein; Head of the Department of Research and Technology Dr. William C. Wineland; Nitinol expert Dr. Frederick Wang; and Security Department Head Ronald Valimaki. The review board checked the paper for (a) technical accuracy, (b) quality and editorial competence, (c) compliance with security regulations, and (d) professional ethics, and recommended its release for publication. The paper represents the first time parapsychological research conducted at a government facility has been released for publication by the Department of Defense.

RE: Uri Geller

You should watch the video of uri geller going on the tonights show to bend spoons, and they made him use only spoons that they had supplied and he refused to do it.

RE: Uri Geller

The TV shows are specious and non-scientific. The point Keith was trying to make was that there was no scientific examples of TK.
Obviously he was wrong. There is.
Check out the "Geller Papers".
Facts are facts

RE: Uri Geller

I think its funny how smart Keith trys to sound, when many things he wrote are INCORRECT.

RE: Uri Geller

Keith is highly intelligent and able to view many sources of knowledge and information, drawing conclusions which show a high degree of low latent inhabition. But, he also appears to have seen something which has scared the bezeus out of him. He is working hard to rationalize something he's found which defies conventional reductionist thinking. Which can drive one mad.
