More dragon stuff.

The dragon is defined in the Encyclopedia Britannica for 1877 as "the name given by the ancients to a huge winged lizard or serpent."
The also goes on to state that "they (the ancients) regarded it as the enemy of mankind, and it's overthrow is made to figure among the greatest exploits of the gods and heroes of mythology. It's existance does not seem to have been called in question by the older naturalists; figures of the dragon appearing in the works of Gresner and Aldrovandus, and even specimens of the monster have been exhibited." A reference is also made to the genus Draco, comprising eighteen specimens of winged lizards, all small, and peculiar to India and the islands of the Malay archipelago.
It's existance is inseparably wedded to the history, from the most remote antiquity, of a nation which possesses connected and authentic memoirs stretching uninterruptedly from the present day far into the remote past; on which the belief in its existance has been so strongly impressed, that it retains its emblem in its insignia of office, in its ornamentation of furniture, utensils, and dwellings, and commemorates it annually in the competition of dragon boats, and the processions of dragon images; which belives, or affects to belive, in its interposition in the affairs of man, and whose scientific works, of antiquity rivaling that of our oldest Western Classics, treat of its existance as a sober and accepted fact, and differentiate its species with some exactness. It is, morover, though not very frequently, occasionlly referred to in the Biblical history of that other ancient, and almost equally conserbative branch of the human race, the Jews, not as a myth, or doubtfully existent supernatural monster, but as a tangible reality, an exact terrible creature.
Equally do we find it noticed in those other valuable records of the past which throw cross light upon the Bible narrative, and conferm by collateral facts the value of its historic truth; such as the fragments of Chaldaean history handed down by the reverent care of later historians, the careful narative of Josephus, and the grand resurrection of CHaldawan and the Assyrian lore affected by the marvellously well direced and fortunate labour of G.H. Smith and those who follow is his footsteps.
Among the earlyiest classics of Europe, it's existance is asserted as a scientific fact, and accepted by poets as a sound basis for analogies, comparisons, allegories, and fable; it appears in the mythology of the Goth, and is contunued through the readition and fable of every country of Europe; nor does it fail to appear even in the imperfect traditions of the New World, where its pressence may be considerd as comparatively indiginous, and undetermined by the communications dependent on the so-called discovery of later days

RE: More dragon stuff.

It must be noticed here, that if you think of the existance of the dragon, we are not bound to limit ourselvs to a single species, or even two.

"In the woods of Java are certain flying snakes, or rather drakes. They have foiur legs, a long tail, and their skin is speckled with many spots, their wings are not unlike a bat, which they move in flying, but otherwise keep them almost unperceived close to the body. They feed on flies and other insects." - Mr. Jhon Nieuhoff's Voyage and Travels to the East Indies, contained in a collection of Vayages and Travels, in 6 vols., vol. ii. p. 317; Churchhill, London, 1732

"The eagle and the dragon are enemies, for the eagle feeds on the serpents young" - History of Animals, Book ix., chap. ii Bohn.

"the Glanis in shollow water is often destroyed by the dragon serpent" Ibid., Book vi., chap. xx 12

The Shan-hai-king a Chinese work of extreme antiquity. "The Pa snake swallows elephants, after three years it ejects the bones, well-to-do people, eating it, are cured of consumption."
This is carried over even into todays world where ground bones are used for various reasons if some cultures.

RE: More dragon stuff.

This is why I almost have stopped posting here. This board is no longer fun. I'm tired of Dragon's and hearing about dragons, I'm Tired of hearing about Amy Lee, and I'm tired of hearing about TK. I still frequent Odd Todd, but i'm now only going to post when I feel it's utterly totally nesseccary. If anyone want's to find me...I'm now posting on Enter the Haggis's talkboard. Which I must say is 100 times better than here. Everyone gets along, It's all about the common musical bond and having fun, which I must say is no longer here. No offense to Todd cause his site still rocks, but this message board sucks. Ok Bye.

RE: More dragon stuff.

if your tired of dragons quit posting in my threads. WTF? I havent posted about dragons in weeks. **** you frog bitch.

thanks to you and "L" for not replying back to my IM's, when you are online. Don't bother giving me that crap about "I logs me on and off when I'm not there" it's bull.

forget the cat, it's not yours. I only want to find GOOD homes for them, not from someone that dumps it on her boyfriend that she complains about all the time.

Wow, I'm a bit tof an asshole today. All well, it was deserved.

RE: More dragon stuff.

As for Enter the Haggis. No thanks. That type of music should not be mixed with bagpipes. It's ok when bands like Korn put some in the background, or for traditional songs and stuf.

Music can only be original to a point, once it passes that it's to disorganised to be anything but crap.

RE: More dragon stuff.

I don't know if ghosts are real or not. Let's ask DM he still fantasizes over his beloved Deceased Kaida, who we heard all about last week. On another note, Why insult the only person on here who actually seemed to like you. Do you want all your real life friends to hate you to? Sure seems like it. I don't know who these people are but I wouldn't hang out with you ever again if I was them. You are just rude, childish, and pitiful. You say this is a place to vent, but anytime that anyone else vents here you shoot them down. Way to go. Please learn that you aren't what the message board revolves around and that even if you aren't here to post it will go on with out you. Learn to deal. Oh and I personally checked out Enter the Haggis because of the past post about them, and the song for thursday. I thought they were pretty cool, and Bagpipes are what make that band different. At least they play something different than what you hear everyday on the radio. So Calm your self, and shut up, and being an asshole to someone is never well deserved.

RE: More dragon stuff.

Ditto on Ghosts...last time I checked everbody is different. Opinions are formed, values are instilled, and life styles don't normally change. If they do it's usually for some other reason than a message board.

So, please get over yourself, I'm pretty sure almost everbody got tired of Dragons months ago. MOVE ON!

Plus Amy Lee is cool but I wouldn't obsess over her.

Last of all, the reason she can't take the cat and has to give it to her boyfriend, she's ALLERGIC to cats moron.

RE: More dragon stuff.

Ghosts are they real or not?,

in some cases. Science does have an excuse for ghosts. Energy cannot be created nor destroid. We have to much energy in us to be acounted for by heat and growing hair when we die. This energy is generaly called a soul, or life force, bepending on your curture. some of this can stay behined in some situations. Mainly in tragic events.

I don't belive they know whats going on in their current situation. just leftover energy.

I have seen them, as have Kriss, and my cuzz "L". many people see them. But they are all stuck in the time that they died.

RE: More dragon stuff.

"Do you want all your real life friends to hate you to?"

she's not a friend, she only contacts me when she needs something, never just to talk, i'm tired of being used. And the only thing that she has told me, I cant tell to anybody, but i should, it would be better for her if people knew. But i'm trying to be a good friend and not call her parrents up and talk to them and get her someone she can talk to about it.

"You say this is a place to vent, but anytime that anyone else vents here you shoot them down"

Everybody does that to me here, i'll dish it beck.

"Last of all, the reason she can't take the cat and has to give it to her boyfriend, she's ALLERGIC to cats moron. "

Then she shouldent act likee she wants one, and she keeps putting me off for when she is going to pick it up. I don't want irresponsable ouners for my cats.

I'm just tired of all the **** from her.
