Mariah, Madonna, Celine,...? Well Mariah makes great R&B and balads, Madonna makes nice dancesongs and celine has many great songs too. Anyway Mariah is the best-selling-female of the nineties at least, has 17 number one singles, 2 diamond albums and so on. Madonna has more success in Europe, and because R&B is mostly american, madonna has more success in the rest of the world. I must say R&B is getting more popular in Europe too. Madonna's carreer is lasting longer, she is 12 years older so you can't blame mariah for that. And we all know both of them have the talent and inspiration for making more succesful albums.Madonna's carreer is already lasting 23 years? I think, Mariah's 16 in the meanwhile. So they are both lasting stars, not many can compare to them. And I think these records will never be broken by artists like Christina or Britney or any one. Records don't sale as easy anymore now internet has the possibility to download them for free. Otherwise The Emancipation of Mimi and Confessions on a dancefloor would of became even bigger. These ladies didn't lose their skills yet and we'll hear about them for many many years, I'm pretty sure of that. |

And every one I spoke was disapointed with madonna's performance at the grammy's. "Oh but she was sick" the fans said. For me there was no difference with another of her performances. And Mariah won more awards, did Madonna actually win one? Don't know. And Mariah looked great at the grammy's, she might be a little bigger nowadays, but she's proud of it, she doesn't want to be thinner again, and I think she looks great this way. At least she doesn't crowl into a weird awful bathingsuit like Madonna, whose old enough to be a grandma. And you're always talking about the UK this, the UK that. America is like so much bigger than the UK, so much more important. The UK is just a country in Europa, (BTW I'm from Europa too), it's not even the biggest and most important courtry of Europe. Germany still has that role and Mariah is doing quite good there too. An another thing, you said Madonna has sold 3 million copies of Hung up, mariah 5,5 million of We Belong together. |

Yes this MIMI album has sold almost 6 million in the US and a total of about 3 million eslwhere bringing its total to about 9 million, while Madonnas new album has sold almost 2 million in the US and 4 million elsewhere bringing its total to about 6 million, so as you can see 3 million difference is not going to give mariah much hope of catching Madonna, never, is a more acurate possibility, as you must also realize that the HUNG UP single has sold itself 3 million worldwide while the WE BELONG single barely hit # 1 but in a few countries and the other singles from the album all together have sold less than 3 million worldwide. The official report is that Madonna has sold about 275 million records worldwide, while mariah is at 230 million. I dont think that Mariah will catch up to Madonna by selling just 2 or 3 million more records each time they come out. Besides this was mariahs strongest effort in total sales in a long time and she is only ahead of Madonna by 3 million with this MIMI album. The age difference is not an importtant arguement as proven at the Grammys where Mariah looks like an over weight something and Madonna stole the show and out powered mariah by getting to open the show. Plus Madonna looks fit and healthy. Also Madonna has confirmed she will tour, while Mariah who can't dance won't get sponsered and most ikely will not sell out any shows in EUrope anyway. She had a Eu hit with WE BELONG single which incidently didnt even make it to # 1 in the UK. but thats all she is really built on Speaking of Japan, I think the Madonna cd has sold better than MIMI. Anyway Mariah will need at least 4 more 10 million sellers to beat Madonna, which will not happend as long as madonna continues to release albums, anyway its always good to dream on.
