So that' a difference of 5 million. And yes you can say it's only in Amerika, but did you know America is 42% of the entire musicmarket in the world. So having succes in Amerika and Japan like Mariah has is having succes in half the world. And about those number of sales, Madonna is 12 years older or something, Mariah has still got some time to catch up if she isn't tbe best selling female already. And why does every one has different numbers? something isn't right! |

I don't mean to undermind or bash Mariah, but when someone goes around talking the big talk and the truth comes out and is a lie, admit to it, say "my bad" or "my publicist made me say it" or something. If you were to ad Madonna's records, singles, vhs sales, dvd's, concert receipts, merchandise and book sales, Mariah is totally outsold and outclass. Madonna is the most successful female performer of all time, and BTW GUYS Billboard in their Centruy Awards in 2000 declared Madonna Best Selling Pop/Rock Female and Whitney Houston Best Selling R&B Female for the Century. Mariah Carey's name was nowhere to be found in that list. So if Guinness, Billboard, International Phonographic Federeation and Grammy Commities are wrong, then Mariah must have ****ed off a lot of very important people along the way for her to not be recognize by any of those organizations as the BEST SELLING FEMALE ARTIST OF ALL TIME, BUT MADOONA IS SHOWN TO BE BY ALL THOSE ORGANIZATIONS. |

The week of January 25, 2006 The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry & Grammy US, the two world-wide authority on album/single sales announced their list of 150 best selling music artist of all time and Madonna was listed at #4 with sales of 275Million(not counting last album sales) and Mariah Carey was list at #8 with 230Million, far behind Madonna. The only reason Madonna has never attended the world music awards is because she does not need the attention and besides Mariah was rumoured to be having an affair with Prince Albert for years, clearly Mariah's record company exaggerated about her record sales, and with this new official figures Madonna is given credit for being the true all time best selling female artist in the world |

Now you are posting your little comments about how Mariah is the biggest selling female artist. Well, you need a buy a calculator because if you could add you would realize that she isn't. It was posted that Mariah is listed as the biggest selling female artist according to the World Music Awards in the year 2000. This information is coming from www.wikipedia.org. If you check this website and compare Mariah's sales to Madonna's you will see that this information is dated. For starters that was FIVE years ago. This was stated PRIOR to Madonna releasing her album Music which went on to sell 14 million copies worldwide. Since then she has also sold another 10 million albums with her Greatest Hits Volume 2 and American Life releases. You then stated that Mariah Carey has sold 230 million albums worldwide. The 230 million you speak of is her total for both album AND single sales worldwide. Under the album and single discographies for Mariah (on www.wikipedia.org) you will note that her total album sales are listed as 180 million and her single sales as 50 million. This is where your total of 230 million is coming from. Now, check out the information listed for Madonna under her album and singles discography. According to Warner Bros. Records as of earlier in 2005 Madonna has sold 200 million albums worldwide and has single sales of 75 million. That puts Madonna's total at 275 million. This information is all prior to Confessions On a Dance Floor and her single Hung Up which will only push her sales total even higher. These are the facts. Madonna's albums have not even been re-certified to reflect her higher sales in many cases. Music (2000) for instance was last certified as 2 X platinum in America two months after it release. It has now gone on to sell over 3 million copies in America. So if you want to post facts then ACTUALLY post the REAL facts. |
