I'm trying to get enough people to convince Todd to start a proper blog, so I can read of his exploits in my news aggregator. Tell Todd to do the blog thing! It's actually EASIER and FASTER than typing into Frontpage, and the results would be more attractive and would automatically generate a syndicated RSS feed, which would friggin' ROCK! No, I know it's a kind of blog, but Todd uses Frontpage to design it, rather than a regular blogging program like MoveableType or BlogWizard. The other thing I want is to be able to have OddTodd in my RSS newsreader program so that I automatically know which areas of the site have been updated. And the fact is that blogging is easier than slogging, that is to say, slogging through Frontpage to create each new entry. A blogging program will automatically create the new entry page, and will link the main page right to it. This isn't new technology, by any means, but I think it beats the pants off of Frontpage. |

Blogging software would mean that he could just type up a post for the day, drag a few photos into it if desired, and click "Publish." The entry would automatically be time-and-date stamped, and would automatically be added to the list of entries. Images that are added to an entry are automatically resized and uploaded with the entry. And then the RSS feed is automatically and instantly updated, letting anyone who's listening know that there's a new entry at oddtodd.com, which would help to generate traffic for the site at no extra charge. The actual look and feel of the site wouldn't have to change, provided the blogging software can make use of adaptable templates. Oh, how I wish I lived next door to Todd! |

He'd probably need a designer's help to implement a blog on his site so that he could have a consistent look and feel, but after that it would be much easier than making new pages for posts with FrontPage all the time. I'm a web designer and in my humble opinion, FrontPage blows anyway. It leaves little Microsoft trash all over your code. I hate that. |

The reason everyone is in love with blogs is so they can add eachother to their "friends list," and then they can pretend that more people like them than they really od. It's just as stupid as those people who in their AIM profiles have those big stupid shout out things "I just wana say hi to all my friends" then they put this big list of names.... as if there is a need for physical proof of being liked. LAME. Blogs also have ads. Ads are irritating. |

If one uses blogging software that uploads new entries via FTP (such as iBlogger or BlogWizard), there are no ads. There are ads on the commercial blogging sites, sure. But Todd has his own hosting. He doesn't need to use a blogging site, he can create his own, with as many or as few ads as he wants. I took your advice and laid down on the highway, but no cars came. I got some gravel in my back pockets, though. |
