To the American people...

Congratulations on your incomparable democratic choice. All I can say is 'Darlings, you've done it again'.

Jack "ass":

Lets go to the dictionary! (dictionary.com)

Incomparable:

1) Being such that comparison is impossible; incommensurable.
2) So outstanding as to be beyond comparison; unsurpassed.

Thanks for the compliment fool!

RE: To the American people...

I would question your definition of a compliment, but I roughly agree. Where your argument trips up a tad is in assuming that being outstanding is necessarily a good thing. The decision to vote in your esteemed leader for another term certainly stands out from a succesion of relatively good decisions in the past, in my opinion.

I apologise if my previous post seemed a little snide, but I was rather hoping for a Kerry win. Those Republican sorts amongst you need not worry about my opinions though - I am English and thus have no democratic say in American politics. I'm just one of those irritating gits who snipes from the sidelines.

Of course you don't think being outstanding is such a good thing. You're part of a bland culture that drills it into everyone's head from birth that they must conform to the group at all costs.

Frankly, standing out is what makes the U.S. great. You and your countrymen seem to think Americans actually care what you think. You've obviously forgotten The Revolution (America's original "relatively good decision in the past").

RE: To the American people...

Keep sniping...maybe some of those Republicans will start listening, since secretly they all covet your swell-egent Brittish accent.

And if I may be so bold to suggest, Jack, if you could remember when reading such headlines as "The American People Have Spoken", that the press is only talking about half the American people.

The other half are wearing black today.

RE: To the American people...

I suppose we do have conformism 'drilled' into us from an early age, although I like to think that a large amount of my countrymen manage to ignore the drill and live original, creative lives. Nor do I dispute that America's declaration of independance was undoubtedly a good decision. I'm not tryin to give any trumpet-blowing nationalist defence of England, I just think that voting Bush in for another go was a bad idea. If it helps, I also think that Blair's second term was also a poor decision on the part of the electorate.

On a separate note, I've never harboured a suspicion that anyone cares about my opinions. However, surely one of the main advantages of the internet is that people like me with opinions that no-one cares about can post their pointless views freely, whilst everyone else can safely ignore them?

To Granny K: My commiserations for not managing to vote in the preferable candidate, but I don't like the sound of the word 'swell-egent'. It's just wrong.

RE: To the American people...

Bob, I know Jack's comments must put you on the defensive somewhat, but does that justify you making a broad sweeping statement about a country. I'm sure Elizabeth Hurley wouldn't be pleased to hear that.
And, while I'm sure many Americans don't give a frig what the rest of the world thinks, I must say this.

As long as you allow your leader to call himself the "leader of the free world" you should heed our thoughts, b/c in his own self proclaimed title, he is calling himself my leader as well. And as a 'democratic' nation such as yourself, it would only seem right that we should be allowed to have some say, no matter how small.

If however you "hopefully" become an isolationist country, and stop interfering in other nations issues, which I'm sure is part of the reason we are in this whole post 9/11 scenario, then, by all means elect what ever yeehaw you would like, as long as it does not affect me.

I will end this by saying, as much as I think Bush is an evil maniac, he may turn out to be the better president for Canada. Kerry was more of a protectionist, and therefore would have been harsher on our trade agreements, where as it looks like Bush is going to go rather lenient.

Aurora:

It's ok to be incompetent. I'll enlighten you.

The US is not a democracy. It was never intended to be a democracy. It is a republic. Everyone was never intended to vote. Originally, the Senate was not elected by the people, but by the individual state legislatures.

Also, calling the president of the US the "leader of the free world" is not a new thing. It's not something that Bush made up. They called Clinton the leader of the free world when he was the president.

Finally, F off. The US will do whatever it damn well pleases. We are a sovereign nation, and we reserve the right to go to war with any nation at any time. We are the most powerful superpower in the history of the world, and France can lick my balls if they don't like what we do. We don't have to listen to Canada or France or Germany or the UN or any other nation or phony anti-American world organization.

Liberal occupation? Any election result map will show that it is the conservatives who have full occupation. Lets not forget that army of Evangelical Christians!

Gotta love that separation of church and state.
