Anyway time will only tell. As for FFVIII, it was the best damn FF ever invented, any one who disses it, cannot truly understand what quality gaming is. FF7 comes next to FFVIII and then it's FFX. Also Squall was the best invention for a character in any game for any genre, platform or time period, face down. Can't say enough good things about FFVIII and Squall, who's only rivaled by Sephiroth and maybe Cloud! |

(Van is the silver-haired main character) But yeah, I'm VERY glad that Square-Enix is going back to regular adventures. It's fun to try new things... but don't keep going if it dosen't work. If they had kept going with more MMORPG crap... well, safe to say FFX would be my last purchased FF game (loved it!). More good news- they're finally continuing the saga of the kingdom of Ivalice! And airships! There's FLEETS of airships in this game! And battalions of Chocobo Knights! BWAHAHAHAHA!! Okay... I'm calm. But yes, as I was saying, FFXII shows potential (only potential, mind you) to be better that FFX or any that came before it. I only wish it was ready in time for Christmas. And since everyone seems to want to end with an opinion on another FF, I'd just like to state that IMHO, Seymour (Alex Fernandez) is the best FF villain ever! |

FF7, while not one of my favs, was the last 'good' FF game. 8 just sucked altogether (got to disc 3 when I just quit and threw the game away, I couldn't even find anyone to give it to it was so bad, gah Squall annoyed me to death!). 9 was a good attempt to get back to basics but the plot line was screwier than a Tex Avery cartoon. And it just got more downhill ever since. I'll stick to replaying the GOOD final fantasies (6 and past, though 7 was also pretty good on its own). |

I mean - play Grand Theft Auto or something else if that is what you are really after. Don't get me wrong - the characters should be cool and attractive. But how about more cool clothing to go along with it? Also - I agree that FF VIII was a terrific game overall. It is one of my favorites. I don't understand why people are so hard on it. Squall is so cool! |

The truth is FFVII started the whole revolution of RPGs period. I think the approach was good. Although I think it was even vastly more improved when FFVIII came out. Seriously!! FFVIII must be the most underrated FF ever! FFVIII touched me in a way no other game did before or after. It still is THE BEST and will always remain THE BEST FF that ever came out in my opinion. FFVIII is a game that you either love or hate. But I can't see why anyone should hate it. ok, so there's the junction system everyone complains about, I actually found it kind of fun to extract magic from everyone, in fact every enemy I ever encountered I would extract 100 of each magic for every character. It's a new twist, what's to hate about it. Then there's the cast. I personally think Squall and Seifer have to be one of the best duos in any RPG period, only rivaled by Cloud and Sephiroth. Also, I found the most appealing aspect of FFVIII was the realism in its story and atmosphere. You felt like there were real characters, ones you could relate to, not just some fictional figures. And what about the graphics, at the time they were spectacular. The FMVs were absolutely amazing. To conclude, I'm sick and tired of people insulting a great game such as FFVIII, to me it still is and always will be the greatest RPG to ever hit the gaming world on any system or platform! my rating of FFs: my rating of best characters: 1) FFVIII 1) Squall 2) FFVII 2) Sephiroth 3) FFX 3) Cloud 4) FFIX 4) Seifer 5) FFX-2 5) Aerith 6) FF VI 6) Quistis 7) FF V 7) Auron 8) FF I - IV 8) Seimor |

Sure it's had some sucky ones (8 and 9),but it's the only rpg besides zelda to never let me down. It supposedly takes place in the tactics advance world, so it might be good. Either way, its good to see an non-online rpg worth waiting for besides the Kingdom Hearts series. (I still say that the best FF's are 6,7 & X. They made me cry!) FFI was a great starter, FFII(jp) was good, but nothing to get all in uproar about. FFIII, (and 6) was ok, not much better then II. FFIV (jp) was good, spent hours playing that one. FFV wasn't like the rest, but it was good to play to see if you could master all the classes. FFVII set the bars for all games, none others can get accomplished what VII did. VIII, what, did squaresoft say, "Lets see if we can create the easiet game ever compared to the rest of the FF series." IX, hey, you redeemed yourselfs from going on a drinking benge. X, great graphics. Could of been a better story in some ways, but really good. XI, That went down the drain faster then the Mario series. Really, they could at least made it have a single player story to hold on to their originality. XII, I look forward to it, just to see if it was better then X. The FF series jumped the shark a long time ago. the only really good ones were 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and mystic quest. the series got dumb after that. 4, 5, 6, and 7 set the standards for awesome rpgs and those games were too hard to live up the legacy to and ff9 almost did that. however 8 was bad, 10 was a waste of time because of those darned cloister of trials that took forever, DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON 11! THE GUY WHO THOUGHT UP AN FF MMOPRG SHOULD DIE A SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH!, and X2 was boring, so with so many sucky games one after another, should I care for another FF game? not really and neither should you. Long live FF4 and other classic games. HE WHO HESITATES IS LOST |
