A friend of mine once told me of how he was working at a toy store (a place called Child World that isn't around anymore) when Teddy Ruxpin was the hot Christmas item in the 80s. A woman came into the store fuming, clutching a Teddy Ruxpin, and went straight to customer service, complaining that the toy was evil. The employees at the service desk didn't know what she meant, until she turned it on. The was a defect in this one that made it talk really slowly, and the voice sounded frightening and evil. It was like, "Heeeeeellllllooooo... ... ... mmmmyyyy nnnnnnaaaaaammmme iiiiiiisssss Teeeeeedddddyyyyyy Ruuuuuuuuxxxxxxpppppinnnnn... .... ... wwwwwoooooulddd yyyyyooooouuuu beeeeeeee mmmmmyyyyyyyy ffffffrrrrriiiiiend...." They grabbed one off of the shelf that was working properly and swapped it out for her. If I was there, I'd have wanted that one. Cool... evil talking teddy bear! |
