Ravi Bhaiya

I read your postings and I agree to it for most of the parts.

I strongly feel that there must be a pressure group to act as watchdog. Our 50 years of experience tell us that it is foolishness to leave our fate entirely in the hands of politicians. We need to take some initiatives and only politicians must not occupy the centrestage of our public life.

This pressure group may consists of sociologists, researchers, IAS/IPS (with clean track record), academecians, lawyers, social workers, industrialists etc.

To all

Few years back, when I came out of Patna Junction ( I was visiting Patna for Holi festival), I saw a small gathering (of around 50 people) near the famous Hunaman jee temple. Maro sale ko, aur maro, chhorna mat, jaan maro, etc I could heard out of that gathering. I could not stop myself to go near the crowd. I saw that people were mercilessly thrashing a 15-year old boy, crime - he had lifted/stolen a vest ("ganji") form a footpath vendor. Beleive me the scene was horrific. None was asking about his caste/religeon/region etc. When I enquired, I was told "chor ka koi jaat nahi hota hai".

While dreaded criminals command respect from public and govt. Forget about MP/MLAs with criminal background, even those criminals who have not won single election command respect. Simply joing a political party and becoming district head of party unit is enough to make you a "neta" and you can pose as people representative and DMs are bound to hear you and offer you a chair. I am telling this from my first hand experience. Norm of the society is - the bigger criminal you are, more ploitical parties are after you. Law breaker are ready to occupy law makers role.
padho ge , likhoge to rahoge berozgar,
Karoge murder/goondagardi to, chalaoge sarkar !!

Why ???? What is the solution ?

After election King of corrution Laloo lost the election. But what did Bihar and Biharis gain? WE got Buta Singh to rule Bihar, another king of corruption, who is on bail for big corruption charges.

When will God bless Bihar???

emigration and imigration

In the past there have been many examples where the mass exodus took place. In Russia durin the reign of Stalin it was a popular method to destroy any community by first destroying the local church and then the local school/Dont you all see the same happening in Bihar. If you are asked to go to Bihar's rural settlement with your family will you be able to give standard education to your child.Lets not talk of law and order first.Lets take up the problem one by one.I'm asking every body will any one go to place where he cannot find a proper school for his child and a proper primary health care center? what are we all talking about.

emigration and imigration

All living beings are governed by the law of nature.Emigration amd imigration is something which has nothing to do with bihar or bangladesh. The survival of the person is directed by the instinctive search for food abundance and continuity of the race(with a better sexual partner). If the given place is not able to provide with the fundamental requirement emigration takes place. If the place is able to provide with the above facilities imigration takes palce. In humans we see the acute case as the information technolgy provides us with full information about one place or the other. In the past bihar has been a place where peole from all over the country side came over to enjoy the prosperity the system had to provide to each one of them.Today the problems of the state are driving those people out of this place.

Rajesh jee , sajeed jee & all

Rajesh jee :- You seem conclude that migration of Biharis to other states is a sign of problem at home. I think it may not be exactly true. Migration is a worldwide and natural phenomenon. More developed states like Gujarat, Kerala and Panjab have more migration than Bihar. So I don't think there is any relation between migration and the state of development.

Response from Ravi :
Rajesh jee, I understand your logic and agree that migration of middle class & labour class people is not the sole reason for this sorry state of affairs in our Bihar. However , migration was detrimental to development of Bihar. I would say migration is one of side effect of un-developing Bihar.
In case of Gujrat , Panjab etc I think people do go away but those states never face situation of flight/shutting down of industries/agriculture resources . But in case of bihar , along with flight of people, industries & other sources of employment also vanishing.
In case of Panjab, Gujrat etc they still have good state machinery & resources for developing their state. They also have good institutions which creates every year thousands skilled worker , technocrat , managers, academics etc so when people migrates to other places then those people get replaced by new young people coming out of college , universities, technical institutions etc. Finally they hardly face lack of right resources for development.
But in case of Bihar, we have seen all these resource generating institution/colleges are malfunctioning or badly performing and hence we are badly facing the lack of right resources for development.
Certainly , there are many other reasons why Bihar is going in backward direction and getting under developed in all area. Few of them are as follow :
1. Lack of infrastructure (electricity , water supply ,transportation : roads, trains etc)
2. deteriorating law & order . It’s mainly because of criminalization of politics & criminal patronage by politicians
3. corrupt & inefficient political & administrative system where ethics , morality , faithfulness towards serving people & for people are not words in their dictionary .
4. General caste ridden closed minded mentality of people where people are loosing trust , hope & faith that things can change and new era of development can start.
5. shutting down of all kind of industries (smalls cale & large scale )
6. subversion of education institutions (college , universities , technical & management institutions) .
7. huge pool of unemployed people (most of them couldn’t complete basic education ) becoming destructive and getting associated with such people or groups.
8. strong presence of feudal system where 5-10 percent people are holding the major land resources and out of these 10 percent 6-8 percents are of feudal mentality (where they don’t believe in hardworking or sweating in farms rather they just want to dictate servants and sit idle)
9. most of our populations(may be 90 %) are underprivileged , poor and just fighting for bread & butter for their day & night.
10. Agriculture is main source of income for majority of our population but this is facing lack of all kind of resources which can make it robust.

If you go on , we can find 100’s more reasons for sorry state of our Bhar.

Rajesh jee :- You have laid out detail plan of action. It is good and I don't think anybody can disagree on this. Now the challange is that how to differentiate it from the agenda of political parties such as RJD, BJP, JDU, LDP. Manifisto of all these parties also look very appealing. Do you suggest political or non-political movement? Note that surviving as non-political entity is extremely hard in this politically aware state.

My suggestion is that - don't attempt to solve all problems at same time, with same organization and same movement. There is no silver bullet. I draw examples from Christian missionaries in tribal areas and NBA (Narmada Bachao Andolan). Missionaries tend to focus on specific problems (education being main) and they are very successful. NBA does seem acquire some political colour but they have been successful in getting their message through.

Response from Ravi :
Rajesh jee , truly speaking I don’t have any concrete plan how to go further to improve our state. That’s why I wrote you , sajeed jee , anil jee , misra jee & all so that we can put together our ideas and may evolve any vision document which may become a basic guideline for any action towards fighting all problems of our state. Let’s cascade this discussion to all people who love Bihar and want to do something for our state.
In democracy , political entities will always exist and they are not alien , they are right from us. Like we have people from different caste/creed / religion , same way we have people with different political affiliations. Political system is also part & parcel of our life so we don’t have to think to get rid of them rather we need to focus how to make this system more efficient , robust & faithful to needs of people. When we say our state is under-developed and going backward , that also apply for our present political system . like our education/academic system going down , administrative system (executives/law & order etc) getting corrupt deteriorating , same way our political system also deteriorating and lacking many things like (visionary leaders, dedicated honest political worker , right mindset for serving people etc ) .

Rajesh jee , our problems are very complex and certainly there won’t be any simple solution and things can’t be on right track within months. It may take generations and it would be great if we can make even few steps in right directions and able to define right directions for our future generations.

Regarding your question ‘do you suggest political or non-political movement ?’
I would suggest a mass movement concentrating on few areas of concern like mass awareness , education etc. My ideas & objectives of this mass movement are as follow :
1. we need right vision for this movement . We need a comprehensive compilation of our problems , causes and formidable solutions in ‘vision document’ which can be guideline / principles of the movement. Our mission should be as simple as ‘ striving /doing best for the betterment of each & every citizen of Bihar’.

2. I think the movement should be such that it can create a right environment of trust , hope & faith among general public such that people from different walks of life (different caste /religion/political affiliations ) can trust each other and which can propagate a creative , progressive & constructive mindset among masses.
3. The movement such that it can cleanse deteriorating education system , political system etc.
Cleansing these system also means changing the mindset of people who are at the helm of these systems and make them more responsible and make them understand their real responsibilities & duties. We want to see whoever is at the helm of our education/political/ administration/ judiciary system has right mindset and works for the best cause of Bihar.
4. we need to attract people from all walks of life for this movement. Logic is simple , we want to see a teacher who spend his time honestly in school and dedicated to develop progressive & constructive mindset among students. We want to see a lawyer working honestly for rules of constitution. We want to see politician working for right cause of people and they should understand that they are servant of the people and for the people , they have to change their mindset that they are the kings.
5. Resolution at individual level . Each person who wants to be part of this movement , should first try to change him/herself. We need to take solemn vow & pledge that we will think and behave and act for the up-liftment & development of Bihar.
As an individual we can put our family members / neighbors to think , behave & act in right direction which will lead to bring a developed , prosper & progressive society where everybody gets respect and opportunity to rise & develop.
6. The movement , such that it can co-ordinate/support with different organizations who are already working for different issues of our state.

7. I believe education & awareness among masses is best thing to bring any desire change in our society. We need to do something such that even poorest child can get right education & right bringing-up so that when they grow up they will think , behave & act for betterment of people of Bihar.
8. Individual has to take great initiative. Suppose , any individual living in a village wants to see things changed , then he has to take initiative in right direction like improving school of the village , trying to establish library for kids of the village, organize debate/discussion for the future development of village and if there is any political activist (member of any political party) lives in village then try to change his mindset and make him understand the need of development and make him do right things for society.

Many more things…..

Rajesh jee , now I would like to stop writing and will look forward to your views.
I also like to see comments from other active member of this forum like Sajeed bhai , prabhat jee , misra jee , anil jee & all.
As in my previous post I requested Sajeed bhai to take the leadership role because of his better understanding problems and his professional background. Again I request him to move forward in this direction.

Aapka bhai
Ravi

Paswan

Because of the admant Paswan, preseident rule was always imminent in Bihar. But, it is not going to change anything in Bihar. Still we have to find our next CM. If Paswan continues to behave like a kid as he is doing now, re-elecion cannot be avoided.

Haryana and Bihar

Curbing lawlessness to ensure that Haryana does not go the way of Bihar is on the top priority of the new Congress dispensation in the state.

Eradication of corruption, efficient and responsive administration, implementation of employment-generating schemes also figure strongly on the list of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Hooda said Haryana was turning into Bihar as far as law and order was concerned and made it clear that peace was necessary for progress.

Logic from Bihar

During recent election in Bihar, when a BBC London journalist Manikant Thakur asked a common man in Raghopur,

BBC: "Kya lagta hai aapko, isbar kisko vote de rahe hai.n log??"

Common Man:- "Rabri Devi ko hi humlog jitayenge"

BBC:- "Kyo.n, bahut log to bol rahe hai.n ki unke CM rahte bhi koi khas vikas nahi hua hai Raghopur me??"

Common Man: "wo to thik hai ki koi kaam nahi hua hai, lekin agar koi naya aayega to wo bhi apna hi pahle pet bharne ka kaam karega, lekin Laloo jee ka to ab pet bhar gaya hai, so wo kuch kam kar sakte hai.n"

Bihar Assembly dissolved

Does it mean re-election?

If so then we will have election after election until parties run out of money. Party with deepest pocket will get to rule.
I think now we realize the futility of "anti-defection" law. It makes harder to create coalition/MLAs forming critical mass. I always viewed "anti-defection law" means nothing but legislating moralilty on MP/MLAs. There is no substitute for upright people's representative.

bihar se hai hindustan &viceversa

Today the situation in the state politics is that of shakspearian Hamlet.I only hope that the presidents rule to bring in little order after a very long period of disorder, that existed. Its funny to watch and at times rediculous to see how all those left in bihar see the situation in the state and feel that yes! what is happening should not happen ,but they happen because IT IS BIHAR!

bihar se hai hindustan &viceversa

The recent development that are taking place in the state indicate that the genetical intelligence of the bihar is now taking over the human inteligence.Once the great legacy of the land is now slowly returning. All the distructive forces and the evil tendencies have somehow going against each other and annulating each other. The bastards of the past have met the rascals of the present.

Thanks Manoj

I am also a regular reader of prabhatkhabar as I my childhood is fondly associated with Jharkhand.
Before reading to your comment on Prabhatkhabar, I was really upset for the comment of its editor for the transition of Bihar from noun to adjective and was about to write a letter to protest this.

Thanks a ton Manoj for expressing the collective ire of all Biharis against this kind of journalism. Manoj, you add to my pride in Bihar. Hope Jharkhand will not behave like Pakistan/ Bangladesh behave against India after their separation.

Jharkhannd may be rich in natural resources, but Bihar is no less than any state in India for invaluable human resources.

It is a challenge for all Biharis that inspite of abundant talents we are being ridiculed by others.

Let us forget all differences and build a bright Bihar. I am more than 100% sure that once we accept this challenge, none, I repeat, none can beat us.

- A very proud Bihari

condemn writers/journalists using Bihar as an adj.

Dear Friends,
I regularly go through your postings and appreciate your spirited debates on various issues concerning Bihar. Certainly you people take different positions on different issues, but you never cross the limit; you never use abusive language towards each other like they do on many discussion forums on various websites.

Friends! I am really upset to notice that there has been a trend for quite some time now to use Bihar as an adjective for all kinds of aberrations of Indian political system. Recently editor of Prabhat Khabar (Ranchi)-Mr. Harivans has written a piece-" JHARAKHAND KO BIHAR NA BANANE DEIN."

Well, I am very much against the way Mr. Sibte Razi is trying to install a government which don't have much support, but what it has to do with Bihar.

Well, I am very much in favour of freedom of expression and I am against any sort of prosecution of any writer.

But then one has right to differ. I think time has come to convey the writers/journalists like Harivansh, albeit politely, that what they are doing is not fair.

So here is a mail I have posted to 'Prabhat-Khabar'.I hope you will like to discuss the issue-

by manoj kumar : Pride and Prejudice

It's ill-witted from your part Mr.Harivansh to use 'Bihar' as an adjective. Jharakhand is newly constituted state and what is happening there is quite unprecedented. So you need to coin new adjectives to analyse that state. I feel offended as an Indian citizen from Bihar when senior journalist like you instead of doing your homework and coining new adjectives trying to displace your outrage towards we poor Biharies.

No Mr. Harivans! This is not fair from your part; neither is it expected from you. We don't care for metropolitan chicks masquerading as journalists. We hardily care how they file their reports, but we have different expectation from a senior journalist of 'Dinman' and 'Raviwar' school.

You need not to recall Bihar's history so often, even our present stuff of political leadership is more mature than that of Jharkhand. We are really fed up with Lalu, Ramvilash and Nitish, and junior Modi, but these leaders show more civility towards each other than the leaders of Jharkhand to their political collegues.

Jharkhand is a bizarre state where social chasm is so palpable that you can't compare this state and its society with the society of Bihar. Middle class of Jharkhand, residing in Ranchi, Jamasedpur or Bokaro, has no organic linkages with the communities living around. Go to any middle class household of Ranchi or Hazaribag and request the gentleman/women to utter the names of ten villages around the city. I am afraid they could.

So what is happening there is the reflection of this lack of social- capital and societal cohesion.

Bihar has its own set of problems like Caste-conflict, corruption, criminalisation and all, but at least we Biharies know each other.

Bihari middle class opposing Lalu is certainly opposing him tooth and nail. This class and upper caste may be allergic, but they are not paranoiac towards the leaders like Lalu. You people from Jharkhand's Middle class intelligentsia are paranoiac towards any short of genuine (not stooges like Arjun Munda or Sibu Soren) tribal leadership, although you earlier legitimized your demand for separate statehood on the name of tribal itself. So you show a sigh of relief when some tribal leader made himself available like a sailable commodity in a political marketplace. Earlier it was Sibu Soren and this time you have new hero like Annos Ekka.

You have right to be proud of this young Christian Tribal leader. Take pride and celebrate Ekka with Rajanath singh.Go and play cricket with him in Rajasthan, but for god sake don't show your ill-witted prejudice towards poor Biharies.
