math

every day, at 1:30PM, when i walk in the math classroom, i prepare for the worst. i suck at math. always have, always will.
here's a poem about me and math;

i hate math, math hates me
thats how its been, thats how it'll always be
dividing, angles, hypotenuse
i dont know if i spelled that right, math is still no use
just listening to things the teacher may say
will tear me up any day
math is worse that dragonmaster, oh its true
i hate math more than you
math is not my friend
that is how this poem ends.

that is how much i hate math.

RE: math

I used to think that I sucked at math, particularly Algebra and then I took an Elementary Algebra class at a junior college and had the highest grade in the class! I remember being upset because I made a 193 out of 200 on the final, which is actually an awesome score!

My secret to success was that when the teacher gave us the homework assignment to do problems 2, 4, 16, 18, 26, 32, 66, 72, 74, and 84, for instance, I did all problems 1-84!

I was able to understand the basic stuff and then build from that and actually enjoyed it!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

RE: math

TK, if it makes you feel any better, Einstein hated math and did poorly with it in school.

The important thing about taking it in school is that if you're ever confronted with a tough math problem in your real life, you know where to look to figure out the answer

I always did well in math classes but retained very little of it from one grade to the next. I'm a chemist now and am very good with the math that I have to do everyday. Ask me a geometry question, I'll have to get back to you. I do know where to look it up though.

RE: math

Yeah. Math is a tool and you only need to know enough to achieve your specific goal.

RE: math

Here's some helpful hints:

Sin(u/2)=[(1-cos[u])/2]^1/2

cos(u/2)=[(1+cos[u])/2]^1/2

sin(2u)=2sin(u)cos(u)

Cos(2u)=cos^2(u)+sin^2(u)

By the way... ¿¿¿does anyone out there know how to make the small exponents using a keyboard instead of having to use a carrot every time you need to to have one???

Anybody stupid or bored enough to figure out this formula?

2+4+9-10+111-45+88x90-1000x3+9+9+9+9+9+9x2+987623-98x34+77-9x98+1+1+2+2+ 3+3+4+4+5+567-91 = ?

The answer is really funny!

¿What is so funny about 989032?
and i think that is an expression not a formula...

It's funny because I made you waste your time figuring it out.

RE: math

When I took number theory in college the first thing they thought us was to forget everything we ever learned. For example, you can factor prime numbers:

3 = (ã4 + 1) * (ã4 - 1)

I still think the hardest math class I ever took was Numerical Analysis. It was an entire class devoted to sequences and series. Taylor series, Fibonacci series, all kinds of stuff. Hard ****.
