'90's

Keep Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder and have them rotate positions. Put John Petrucci on lead guitar so Flea can be bass. Keep Dave Grohl, but move him from drummer so Tim Alexander of Primus can take over. Keep Billy Corgan also.

'80's

Some people on the '80's list aren't even metal, like Steven Tyler and Geddy Lee. Also, some people might say Angus Young is hard rock. Switch Tyler with Rob Halford of Judas Priest and Lee with Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. Also, if you want a completely metal lineup, switch Young with Marty Friedman of Megadeth.

Small Change

Both lists are good, especially the '80s one, but the metal one needs Slash as sharing lead guitar with Eddie and (maybe) Angus, and the grunge list should have Tom Morello as lead guitarist.

Awesome!

The '80's group is soooo much better than the other group that it's sad.

Paul Westerberg?

Some musicians, I don't know how to categorize - like The Replacements were around in the 80's but they were definitely more of a grunge sound - not metal.

Good point Matt - about 2 people from Audioslave

Here are the top vote-getters for the 90's Grunge Rock band at http://www.rateitall.com/t-8936-best-grungehard-rock-supergroup-worldwid e.aspx
Dave Grohl (drums for Nirvana, guitar)
Mike Dirnt (bass for Green Day)
Tom Morello (guitar for Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave)
Flea (bass for Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Jack Black (vocals/guitar for Tenacious D)
Maynard James Keenan (vocals for Tool, A Perfect Circle)
Eddie Vedder (vocals/guitar for Pearl Jam)
Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar/vocal for Green Day)
Tre Cool (drums for Green Day)
Anthony Keidis (vocals for Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Eric Avery (bass for Jane's Addiction)
John Frusciante (guitar for Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Matt Cameron (drums for Pearl Jam, Soundgarden)
Danny Carey (drums for Tool)
Jerry Cantrell (guitar for Alice in Chains)
Perry Ferrell (vocals for Janes Addiction)
Brandon Boyd (vocals for Incubus)
Dave Navarro (guitar for Jane's Addiction)
So, the question is:
Do I get rid of Tom Morello and replace him with:
John Frusciante, Jerry Cantrell or Dave Navarro?
Or do I get rid of Chris Cornell and replace him with:
Jack Black, Maynard James Keenan, Anthony Keidis or Perry Ferrell?
What do you think?

grunge

yeah i like both 80's heavy metal and 90's gunge attack. but if i were to choose one over the other it would have to be grunge cause really Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, and Rage Against The Machine are all great bands. even the new grunge such a great sound such as Nine Black Alps or The Used.

Grohl

Well, he kicks Pert's ass in Drumming and he is a better all around musician. A lot on insestiside shows it.

angus a no go

sure angus is the best ever lead guitarist, but you would have a serious prob gettin him to record with those other gus- u reasd bout acdc and they have barely any respect for any band but themselves. angus can be a bit of an arse so getting him to record with those guys would be nothing short of a bloody big miracle

EVH

Hell yeah, with Eddie Van-Halen on the roster, you are bound to win, just toss in AVH and the win is definite

Geddy Lee on bass

Make sure to vote for Geddy Lee at:
http://www.rateitall.com/i-552459-geddy-lee-bass-for-rush.aspx
I was trying to avoid having 2 musicians from the same band and since I really wanted Neil Peart - that kind of excluded Geddy Lee and Lifeson from this Lineup - but the metal vs grunge battle has been very popular - so I'm sure we'll be doing another lineup of metal vs grunge - and if Geddy Lee is leading all bass players at the rateitall site then he'll lead the next 80's metal Supergroup.
