| Posted By: Hanna Posted On: Dec 2, 2007 Views: 2908 | You guys are retarded i got a deal on the ticket $16 then i got my dress at jcpenneys for 17 cuz it had ONE sequin missing (the fabric store gave me one for free) then my shoes were 5 on clearance clearance. then got a friend that works at a salon to do hair and makeup for free, and jewelry borrowed it from someone i know. so yea you guys are retarded for spendin that much ask for deals they will give them to you. |

I borrowed a dress from a friend( that i didn't love but it looked good on me) make-up : my mom's best friend bought some expensive make-up the day of prom and i got the free make-over, hair the same woman gave me the hair do. Shoes 20$! I was totally blessed on Prom |

It's bad to not have a budget but w.e, my mother will buy me whatever I want, so my dress was $360 (it was worth $1000 or something), alterations were like $15, shoes: $85, nails: $40, hair n makeup: probably around $150, limo: $100, purse: $25, OH..prom ticket: $195, boutiner(idn how to spell it): $15 thats already ALMOST $1000 and that doesnt include the pictures at prom, OR anything after prom! CRAZYNESS, but certainly worth it, i love dressing up so proms a big night for me! |

I spent: - $640 CAN. on my dress (it's my dream dress) - $250 shoes - $200 for earrings, ring and bracelet - $40 limo - $90 ticket - $50 to get my make-up done - approx. $200 on my hair (colour, wash & style) - approx. $80 for spray tan - approx. $40 for waxing My parents are paying for all of it (except my ticket, I'm paying for that)so I don't necessarily have to worry about it. Prom is a huge expense for me, though, so kudos to all of you who were able to take a cheaper route! |

My cousin is doing my hair and i am paying her 20$. My manicure is $35, and i am doing my own toes. I got a set of classy fake pearls for christmas that im wearing too. I bought flip flops for $8... CAUSE HOW MANY OF US WANT TO WEAR HEALS ALL NIGHT!!! if your dress is long enough, do it. you will thank me. My total is $226... thats it cause i am doing things my self and i shopped around. all of you that are paying $550 for just your apperence that night, are out of your minds... other sugestions. your man is your purse. let him carry your things so you dont have to. thats why tuxs have alot of pockets. Modest dresses, i know it sucks to find a cute cheep on so find a strapless and buy a cute cover from dillards for 20$. thats what i do. I live in Las Vegas so its hard for me to find a decent one that my neighbor isnt already wearing... Tanning is a no no... i have skin cancer because of it. please save yourselves. embrace your whiteness! Wax?!?!? who does this? mybe your eyebrows... even that you could do with an easy guide from a wax kit at walmart for cheep. Borrow as much as posible including dresses. im serious! shoes, hair stuff, jewlary, purses, hoes, makeup, what ever... |

To Lou: Okay, there are several things wrong with your rant: A) My Prom dress did not cost NEARLY that much, B)Since I got a MODEST dress (that doesn't show everything), I didn't HAVE to get a special bra, C) Hair updos are so NOT in style for Prom right now, so I'm doing loose curls myself, D)Manicures and makeup are both available at home, where hygiene is much more reliable, E)Tanning will give you skin cancer, so even though I'm pale, I WON'T DO IT, F)I'm borrowing some decent, simple jewelry from my mom, because flashy jewelry takes away from the dress, G)You can go to dinner yourself or with friends, and spend way less than the dinner package, and H) Unless I'm planning on getting totally drunk prom night (which I'm not), I don't need a limo. So, all in all, my Prom should cost about $400 TOPS. All you moms out there, don't get all freaked, because it's really NOT THAT BAD. And if it is, heck, I work, I can pay for my own stuff, and I'm sure there are plenty of jobs out there for your kids. Don't sweat it, Prom will be fine. |

It all in all costed me about $50, so if you or someone you know can sew, try it that way. Then, you have the fun of being creative and have the EXACT dress you want...and you can be sure that it WILL flatter your shape. As for your shoes & other accessories, you don't need to buy new stuff unless you don't have anything to go with your dress. My dress this year is black, so I can use the accessories that were used for my freshman years black prom dress. Have friends do your hair, and don't go to a fancy salon if you want to save money. So, prom cna be cheap, if you just think about the ways you can cut costs. |

Shoes were 78.00 better comfort. now at 569.00. Hair updo is 65.00 tanning 35.00 manicure and makeup 75.00. Hey we are at 744.00 already and were not done. Then there will be limo fee about $60.00 for a couple sharing a limo with friends jewelry we are looking at is around 75.00 . Also special bra is about 30.00. Hey I'm at 909.00 and we haven't added the photos in nor paid for the dinner package for prom itself or purchased and after prom outfit. I figure when all is said and done I will have spent over 1000.00. Yep thats right moms 1000.00 And I'm a person who budgets everything and shops for bargains. Yes and I get to do this again next year. Atleast I now know what to prepare for. So look out mom and dad prom is right around the corner happy shopping. |
