You are certainly entitled to your opinion, Simon, and to be honest you are not the first one to mention the particular "flaw" that you picked out of my performance. So, I'll react positively to your observation and I'll work on improving this deficiency that you picked out. If you don't mind my saying this, Simon, I think the reason you are ruffling some feathers has more to do with the way you express your opinions rather than the opinions themselves. Criticism is always more palatable when it is garnished with a little honey, rather than with invectives. So, maybe we can both work on improving our respective manner of delivery. I do appreciate and I thank you for taking the time to express your opinions. Rick

First, Woodstock...I am from many places and the networks made me a judge. At least we agree there are some singers who couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle. Dolly thinks everyone is great. She must be spending time with Paula Abdul. Second, Dolly...try out your new material at home first. We're not guinea pigs. I don't have to drink poison to know it isn't good for me, and I don't have to sing to recognize talent, or the lack thereof. You're quite listenable, Dolly, with songs like "Crazy". But even "Mr. Jones" runs away when you try a Billy Paul song. Third, Lucee's family...who watch too many episodes of The Sopranos...call off the dogs. I did not say anything critical about Lucee because I enjoy listening to her...even the country stuff. Fourth, EVERYONE is coming down on me for what I said about Rick. I started out saying he has a lot of potential, and I do think that. I agree he has a very good voice and I even voted for him despite my aversion to this voting poll. But come on...he DOES need polish. He stands there like Ed Sullivan and he has more facial expressions than Lon Chaney and Jim Carey put together. A little more body and a little less facial movement would round out the package. Finally, I agree with everyone's compliments about Rich's hard work...without which we would not be communicating on this site at all. That does not mean, however, there is no room for constructive suggestions. Rich could be a little more open to that and that is the ONLY critical thing I have ever said about him. We all love him but even Barbara will tell you he isn't perfect. Thank you one and all for your thoughtful responses. It's great to be reviled. The networks pay me well for that. Love, Simon

Yes some are better than others depending on their experience, etc. Practice makes perfect. Let's see you get up there & sing So we all can comment on your ability etc. By the way trying out new material is one way to find out which material one can sing. Of course not being a singer or musician you wouldn't know that. Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. Rich is doing a fine job. this ia a lot of work and I really appreciate what Rich is doing. As far as Rick's faces he makes, perhaps that is his style. I enjoy his singing very much as I know everyone else does. What are you trying to do stop the singers from coming? Sorry, it won't work. Every singer up there is talented and are trying to develop their singing ability further. What they don't need is someone like you criticizing them. Now, if you have something constructive to say to help the singers, that would be appreciated.

Here are my reviews: 1. Linda has a very nice voice and presence. Nothing critical to say about her. (darn it!) 2. I can't be objective about Lisa because I have a crush on her. She could leave the sun glasses home, though, unless she plans to stay until dawn. 3. Joe also has a very nice voice but I'm wondering whether he sings those same two songs in his sleep. Joe, sing something else...anything else! 4. Tony should come around more often. I like him. 5. Rick actually has a lot of potential, but he really should stop making all those silly faces when he sings. What's that all about? 6. Deb and Harry.... what ever happened to them? 7. James should move beyond Roy Orbison and try some more duets with Laura. They are so cute together. 8. Terry seems to have fun. That's all I can say about him. 9. I dare not say anything critical about Lucee or I might be attacked late at night by a roving band of Australian aborigines. 10. Maryann has an impressive repertoire and I like her enthusiasm, but she doesn't need to cast all those votes for herself the first day after new songs hit your web site. 11. Dolly's enthusiasm makes me smile but she needs to be more selective on her song choices. Her voice is fine for some songs she does but inappropriate for others. 12. Laura (unlike Joe) should never change her signature song. It's perfect for her. But she needs to try out the new stuff in private first to avoid the occasional debacle. Still, she's a cutie! 13. One more for the road. Barbara is the best damn cocktail waitress I have ever seen! She has earned a spot on your showcase, which BTW, you should now record again with new songs. And let's get Tim on there too, who I always enjoy. But Rich, let's format it next time for the majority of folks who have high speed internet access and who would like better video resolution. The few who still have dial-up access can wait a few more minutes for the download. You're letting the tail wag the dog. I actually did mean for my original comment to be constructive but I obviously didn't do a very good job of it. Let me take another crack at it. Why don't you try posting the singer's showcase without the poll, just one time, and see what everyone thinks. If they don't like it you can always reinstate it. I guess that is all I was trying to say.
