My favorite aspect of the book 1984, is the use of doublespeak. The gov't in the book co-opts words and twists their meaning. If I remember correctly, the Ministry of Information is in charge of censorship and brainwashing.

Another good example, is the Patriot Act and how it limits your civil libilities.
