not w=quite a mary sue

She's not quite a mary sue. Vampires (i.e. undead who aren't reanimated corpses, but self maintaining creatures) are supposed to get stronger with age. It still seems a little weird that she could hold her own against Dracula himself. (sorry for the spoilers, fans who didn't finish the series.) aside from that, though, she's developed out of it, and while powerful, is a solid character for the most part.

Reseda

Reseda's most Sue-ish traits are her outfit (an exact copy of Alucard's, albeit green), her prior acquaintance with Alucard (which easily and automatically incorporates her into Hellsing canon), and her powers (which are of the same nature and level as Alucard's).

I'll grant you that Reseda is True Undead and a much older vampire than the ones Alucard usually fights, but Alucard has been enhanced by the Hellsing family to be the perfect weapon for use in battle against any Undead. If you want Reseda to provide him with a challenge, I suggest you do it through some means other than making her incredibly powerful (perhaps by.

I also think you should give her more unique abilities and a more developed back story (such as how a girl born on the Isle of Man could become a type of Bengali vampire). Her basic design isn't bad, but you should change her eye color, and definitely give her a new outfit.

She's only appeared twice in Shine, and her most recent appearance (in "Body Swap of the Invaders") was already much better. I'm sure you can make her into a really great character.

in perspective

She really isnt all that bad, even with her score on that Mary-sue test, once you realize tht Alucard himself scores about a 72. Ordinarily a character as powerful as Reseda might be a bad thing, but Alucard really need a challenge. Besides, he does complain that all the vampires he fights arent really nosferatu, so maybe such power in an older vampire isnt that uncommon.

My reply

I actually don't know much about Hellsing, I learned about it by reading your awesome comic. And so when I read the storyline (in fact, until I read the full profile of her today) I actually thought that she was a cannon character. ^_^;; Which is both a compliment to you, and a insult to my feeble hellsing-know how.

Reseda

Well, I love her! Erin, in my opinion you did a really ggod job in intruducing Reseda to Shine. Please, make her show up again! I don't think she's a Mary Sue... she's a perfectly OC in my Opinion...

Vampire/Questions

Yep, my storyteller is imaginative. But he's starting slow for now as I've never rped Vampire the Masquerade before and involving every thing at once would get over whelming. My experience is with D&D, Star Wars, Heroes, Rifts and a few others.
Rebeka is my Lasambra's name. She is turned early in the second century AD and our first story session started with her embrace. My friend, playing the other vampire in this story, is going a bit nuts trying to make Rebeka accept and act like what she has become. I'll put it this way: my poor chari has already walked outside (albet under heavy cloak and in the shade) and at the end of the first session she'd collapsed in the middle of the inn because she'd insisted on trying to stay up during the day.

This is going to be /very/ interesting!
Shall I keep you posted? If so, here or by e-mail angle_fish?

Vampire/Questions

Dear god, a Lasombra with True Faith?!?! Not too far fetched, I applaud your thought there, considering the Lasombra's background with the Catholic Church. (Wouldn't Maxwell just have fits over that?)*G* Have fun with him/her! I've played the Lasombra Methuselah for our Dark Ages game. *wicked smile* Everyone hated having to deal with Elena, but not one person in that game has ever forgotten her. *snicker* Alucard's closest match was Malkavian, but it confined him too much, which is why we chose Caitiff. (Not Pander, considering that's a Sabbat-only thing.)

My city started out as Vampire, and we added Werewolf, Mage, Changeling, Wraith and Demon. *G* Ambitious players, no? If your Storyteller is imaginative, I can guarantee a hell of a playing experience.

Glad to know the questions helped. *G*

VtM & Hellsing/ Reseda

Angel_Fish, I'd love a copy of those questions. My e-mail is tharen_bria@hotmail.com. Thanks!

My friends and I /just/ started a Vamp.Mas. rpg last night. My first time playing it but our storyteller has years of experience so it's all good. I'm trying a Lasambra with True Faith. Our storyteller is having fun messing with my/her head.
Anyway, we held the must-do discussion over what clan Alucard was in and never did agree on a solid answer. Heck, it was hard enough to pin our characters down!

But it's fun reading all your ideas! :)

VtM & Hellsing/ Reseda

Actually, my b/f and I did Alucard for the VtM system. *G* The clan we chose was Pander. (We play Sabbat mainly.) If you consider it, Alucard doesn't really fit any clan. We went through the entire gambit, from Lasombra, which was the first idea due to his shadow control, to Samedi. In all truth, he doesn't really fit into a clan. His powers were easily explained: Obtenebration, Protean, Potence, Celerity, etc. His personality...more Malkavian than anything else. That was as close to 'clan' as we got, but Pander gives you the freedom to really make him what he is. The thin-blooded thing, well...*G* Diablerie is acceptable in the Sabbat.

And considering I haven't been keeping up here, I'm probably being redundant. However, if you're still looking for suggestions on furthering character creation for Reseda, Erin, I have an idea. A particular list of questions one of my English professors suggested which you answer for your character, much the same as the Mary-Sue test. However, this gives you the opportunity to see where you are lacking and where your character strength is. One of my characters began as absolute perfection. Highly boring. Now, however, she is still physically lovely but highly impatient, a little on the slow side and more inclined to act before breathing. I have the list of questions, if you'd like them. Just give me an email and I'd be happy to send them over. I think Reseda is a character rife with potential. It's just putting that potential out for development.

Sett Chants??

I didn't know giant snake-gods that have nothing to do with the awesomeness that is Sutekh (Set) could chant. *chuckle*

If you mean Incognito, then that's a whole 'nother story.....

VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE AND HELLSING:
A conversion of the characters of Hellsing into V:TM traits (by Kerian-sama!)

Alucard: I'm tossed-up about him. Either Tzimisce (Koldunc bloodline...that means he's a sorceror) or Gangrel (The Dog-thing.) Or a Koldunc Tzimisce with the Protean Discipline.

Incognito: Brujah Antitribu. Oh so Brujah. He goes into Frenzy all the time, he's got a big gun, lots of piercings, and he's the epitome of the Sabbat ideal of "you're damned, so act like it!" Maybe a messed-up Follower of Set if you're counting his worship of that thing.

Seras: Toreador. Oh yeah, definitely Toreador. In the sense that she's "trying to hold onto her humanity" (although that describes the ENTIRE CAMARILLA). Though she's not much of an artist. Hmm...maybe not Toreador. Ventrue isn't her, either (Madam Stick-up-your-ass, she is not). Nosferatu? Only if you consider her to be "ugly," and if you do, you need glasses something awful.
Alright, she's probably Caitiff, with Celerity, Fortitude, and Potence.

Luke and Jan: Jan is a Brujah Antitribu. He's all about 'taking down 'THE MAN'.'
Luke is...well...Ventrue. He IS Master Stick-Up-Your-Ass.

The Unnamed Chip-Pires: Ghouls, not true Kindred. This is evidenced by the fact that most of them are sort of still alive.

Andersong: An old Ghoul. He can regenerate like a vampire, but he's not.

THE OC:

Reseda: Probably whatever Alucard is. I wouldn't doubt at all if Reseda was a Caitiff with Protean.

So HE was the one who said that?! I don't know why "some" people have to think that a certain kind of people are bad or inferior to them. Hmph. They just don't know how it feels like to be treated badly or inferior for something they had no say to. It's not our fault that we were born that way, is it?

Thanks, SerasFan for the Seto summoning chant.
