Walter's vampyness

Thanks Chi. I did /not/ need to read 'he was all attacking anti-Millennium crafts and whatnot'. (rolling eyes at my roomat's reaction; not truly angry or upset with you) ;)

Mitchell: I really like your analysis of Reseda. :)

Integra-fan: Books 1-6 of Hellsing are out in America, hence I have them. I /really/ want Dawn to come out here! Good luck getting them (Hellsing manga) for yourself; they're worth it!

Walter's vampyness

Meh. I knew something was up with the shinigami, as he was all attacking anti-Millennium crafts and whatnot, but I didn't quite get they made him a vamp, just that he was under some mind control that made him look somewhat younger.

XP He was much, /much/ more attractive at 15. They shoulda just made him look like he was in The Dawn. (By the by, can you give me a link for where I can read said Dawn online?)

Reseda

She's a good character, interesting.

She's not a protaganist, so that helps tremendously. Also, she does a good job of seeming to have a "history", and it's nice to see another vampire on the level of Alucard, but without any "evil" plans.

She comes across well. Only "Sueish" traits, would be that she's on the level of Alucard, but since she doesn't really do much with this...(I.E. No deep insights, just has a fun scene.)

As long as she doesn't take away from the rest of the cast...she's fine.

Plus, she has a mythological basis, which seems nice. (She basically seems like a character who could have appeared in the manga, in a filler arc.)

So you mean Kouta Hirano may just choose to leave Walter with Millenium forever?! Oh my god! Walter must NEVER be with Millenium permanently! He's so strong with his skills and I can't really see Hellsing surviving or beating Millenium if Walter's with them.

Seriously, I'm starting to think Hirano-san actually wants everyone except Alucard, Integra, Seras and the Major to die. Walter is and was Integra's butler and servant forever. He canot just change sides!

Integra WILL bring back Walter alive. She MUST! She will anyway. She cares for Walter even if he's forced to be on the other side without a choice. She would rescue him, or die trying.

Thank you, Catherine ^_^

Spoiler alert: Walter gets turned into a vampire and controlled by Millennium at some point between his fight with the Captain and Alucard's return to the mainland. So now he has a thirtysomething body and a skinny black outfit that has the fangirls going into spasms. Oh, and red eyes. (Whether he will be rescued by Integra/Alucard is still to be seen.)

Walter's Eyes

sorry about the deviation from subject, but I have to ask...

I saw this on the art board and am confused...
"I thought Walter's eyes ( pre-vampirization) were grey?"

Okay...what is that about 'pre-vamirization'??? Sence when is/was walter made into a vampire!?! Or is the person who wrote this, not poor me, cracked up on this matter?

my two cents

I know the troubles of trying to create characters that arn't Mary Sues or overly melodramatic. (Trust me; I have an insainly tactless and critical friend who keeps my writting in line)

Reseda came off quite well. Sure she 'showed up', but hey, Shine isn't cannon unless you want it to be for you personaly and it takes an incredible amount of work to smoothly intro a chari. For a comic Erin did fantastic here.

As far as the 'if she were more Mary Sue, she'd have married him' comment, I assume the person was refering to Alucard as the 'him'? And I totaly disagree!
Good grief; she said 'I like your style', not 'OMG I heart you!'. And the words smooth over the style copying bit by giving credit directly to the canon.

Integra's reaction: it works. This is Shine; she'd let Alucard have his fun. And Erin's point bout the Hellsing family only attacking threats is valid and sound.

I know we all have our own interpretations of the maga/anime. These comments are bassed on mine. My roomate is torn between deciding who is the bigger fangirl (Erin or me) so you can picture how much I needed to comment here. :)

Pope Comic

Sorry that this is off-topic, but I'd also like to say the Pope comic made me laugh out loud.

XD Hope that makes up for thinking Reseda was a man.

The androgynous factor.

The androgynous factor.

"It's like meeting a girl with short hair who doesn't wear a tight-fitting tee but an average one who incidently loves to wear jeans and wouldn't be caught wearing a dress, even at her wedding(if she ever haves one) and doesn't have big breasts. You mean if you saw someone like that on the street, you would take that person as a male?!" -integra-fan.

*shrugs* I'm exactly of that description, and I get taken for a male quite a lot. Some people actually go up and ask whether I'm a girl or a boy. So, it depends.

Ahem. Sorry. Here's your poll back, Erin.

Well...let's see here...

The main problem people have in general with placing an OC into something like Hellsing is that it doesn't fit with their first perceptions of the manga/anime. Reseda has a lot of potential for becoming a very good character, she just needs more development in the comic. I think everyone's Mary-Sue issues, Erin, is because we've been reading Shine for so long, we're accustomed to only the Hellsing characters, with the exception of James and Diane. Reseda automatically seems Mary-Sueish due to her sudden appearance. However, your profile gives more depth to her, and I think if more people would read it, then apply that knowledge to the comic again, they'd see she's not so Mary-Sue as she first appears.

she is

Reseda IS female. Couldn't you tell?! I mean, just look at her face and I can tell if she's male or female. It's like meeting a girl with short hair who doesn't wear a tight-fitting tee but an average one who incidently loves to wear jeans and wouldn't be caught wearing a dress, even at her wedding(if she ever haves one) and doesn't have big breasts. You mean if you saw someone like that on the street, you would take that person as a male?!
