reseda

i would have said mary sue to begin with as the story seemed more an introduction for what may become an occassional character who seems to equal alucard ,who is constantly referred to as being immensly strong, yet she can easily keep up with him there by following the grand tradition of overpowering the 'original character'...but thats hard to do when alucard is shown often to be neigh on invincible.

some of the characters seemed to have changed their views from 'all undead must die' to actually in part accepting her presence ie alucard didnt kill her, which he did(trie to) with alexander and anyone who came his way before (millenium/incognito)

design wise: seras head on alucard/integra body if i am being blunt, but to have her be a hell cat form rather than a 'traditional'(mythos used by film/pop culture rather than the ancient versions where there are many variations on what a vampire is...) form like a hound.

what made me sway to her not being too much of a mary sue was the immense amount of background given in her bio, which is actually more than you get for some canon characters in the series... nicely developed, but it did feel like a 'filler episode/ story arc' where a character comes along then leaves at the end with a promise to return sometime, if ever. in fact classic intro arc for a character a writer isnt too sure people will take a like too... so does that mean she will return at some point if this poll has good views of her, or be cast to character hell/oblivion if she doesnt?

oh and good authors post thingy on yumie/yumiko ... i just find typing yumi/ko easier myself to save space since i type too much...

stuff

I thought she (Reseda) was pretty cool... and original. I liked the whole hellcat thing going on. That was awesome!

Sue-ness

Eh... I'm "on the fence" with this one. She didn't seem very overly, obviously Sue-ish (if she had started whoopin' Alucard's ass... now that would have been Mary Sue O_o). Yet she wasn't quite . . . I dunno. To me, she just seemed a little too "all of a sudden, here I am, I know all about everything and everybody."

Now that I think about it, most main/semi-main origonal characters kind of inevitably appear Sue-ish next to canon characters (unless they're characterized as hideously stupid, or ugly, or something of that sort), probably for the simple reason that they ARE created by someone not the origonal author, and you automatically assume that the OC is a sort of alter-ego--esp. if you're not familiar with the author. Hmm...

But, give me a really convincing argument as to why she *wasn't* a Mary Sue, and I could probably be swayed.

male MS

The male version of Mary Sue does have a name: it's Gary Stu. As for Reseda, she is kind of Sueish, but overall she is a decent OC.

And I the second...

Iono, I liked all the other characters in the the Reseda storyline, but she (i assume?) really didn't do it for me...at all.

It was really cute when Alucard got offended and all embarassed in that one strip...

*sigh*
I'm not sure what I was hoping for, but while all the other characters, the drawings, and the diologue was cool, I found Reseda, Reseda's lines, unappealing and detracting from the strips funness...

=(

But it was cool all the same...grr for you mary sue...
