Skype works with Treo700WX

Although not supported if you go to skypes webpage and download the windows Mobile 5 version for either the DASH / COSMO or the 8125, most of those builds DO WORK FOR WINDOWS MOBILE VERSION OF THE TREO 700WX

I have been running it for some time now. Also with a WIFI SDIO card you can really get decent quality with VIOP calls using your TREO. What i like about this is now not only is my Mobile phone good for mobile calls but also as a substitute for a headset that has to plugged into a computer for Skype.

Got any questions? email me

WIFI=FREE!!!!!

Dude, if you have a WIFI card and you go to a place (ahem, school, work, etc) then you could use skype to place the call... it is kind of like the netgear phone but more versatile. Think about it people!

Skype for Treo's, what!!

Are you guy's serious, here let me explain. VOIP for Treo = data plan for 49.99 with unlimited calls via Skype!! Enough said, this is why Voip needs to be encouraged on these, Cingular has unlimited data plans for that ammount and you can use Skype anytime, that is a dream. Free outgoing Skype for the rest of 2006, and then we get $30 for a year and incoming phone number!! Compare that to any data\voice service and you'll understand the writers point ;)

BT for Skype

I don't see why, if you can get a BT headset to convey voice, you couldn't do it with a BT connection to the PC.

It has a max of around 1 Mbps, so it should be more than capable, with the proper boosting.

Skype is VoIP

I agree with the previous comments. Skype is Voice over IP. That would suggest we need an Ethernet Cable or WiFi. So PalmOne will first have to release a WiFi solution for the Treo before Skype can think about a PalmOS version of Skype.
But Hey, it still doesn't stop me from voting 'Yes' to wanting Skype on my Treo in the Poll.

Skype Bandwidth

Actually, Skype does well on dial-up, which we know to be about 52Kb... voice data is about 25Kb in reality (AFAIK). I've seen speeds on my EDGE connection of 100Kb, so it looks like Skype conferencing would be easily doable...

Network Speed

I am not sure that EDGE or 1XRTT has enough real juice for VOIP, which might be why the Treo is not listed. If there was an EVDO or UMTS version then I'd see it for sure...

We need a 3G Treo!
