I dare not compare him with the great communicator (Ronald Reagan for those of you out there living in a box), but certainly he will go down as one of the most successful president's in history. Most the hatred for George Bush is born of the liberal philosophy against the War on Terror. Those on the left believe that it is not in our best interest to use military force to attack countries / regiemes that would seek to aid terror networks who wish to harm the US, either directly (Taliban) or indirectly (Iraq - many terrorists met openly there). In fact, some will go as far as to say we don't have the right to attack another country. This is clearly ridiculous, as a soverign nation we can go to war with any country over any reason we see fit. It is fair, in my opinion, to respect the belief of many Democrats that the War on Terror is not useful and only costs American dollars and lives. I respectfully disagree, and unfortunately the true impact in terms of success of the War on Terror can never be realized or measured. That is, we can never know how many terrorist attacks were thwarted / didn't take place because of the pro-active stance Bush has taken on this issue. All respect given to those with a differing opinion, those people who claim Bush lied and hold signs saying "No War for Oil" are just plain stupid. We cannot debate serious issues while unitelligent, uninformed people post on forums like this and make disparaging remarks about the president because it's all they have ever known. At least we're going to drill for oil in the ANWR. And if Bush can get me a private social security account, I'll certainly never regret having voted for him twice. |
