RE: Dragonmaster

I made $6.60 an hour in 1985, when I was a gemologist for a diamond and colored-stone wholesaler.

RE: Dragonmaster

I always thought the difference between my Team Leader (at my prev job) and me.

I was on like $48,000 p/a at 37.5 hrs/week
He was on say $60,000 p/a at say 45 hrs/week (no o/t paid)

So that works out to $24.61/hour for me and $25.64/hour for him!!! So I was effectively like on $1 a hour less than him with virtually zero responsibility! compared to him having to performance reviews, complaints and sh1t like that. Having said that, an extra $12,000 p.a. is always nice.

RE: Dragonmaster

I'm guessing per annual! I know, doesn't it seem like sometimes he is speaking a totally different language!

I loved his car answer! They make the same car as the Pontiac GTO? Why? Of all cars...lol

Snrub - you never answered...what kind of car are you going to buy?

RE: Dragonmaster

You cant understand me, if I started with the rhyming slang you wouldnt have any idea.

p/a = per annum

As for the GTO, I'll bet Pontiac sell them on the basis as the classic american muscle car for the classic american man...aaaaawwww yeeeaaaahhhhh - right? Anyway, go here for a Monaro, see the simmilarity (I think they sell them to Saudi Arabia too!);

As for me, no Monaros, I am just after an early 90's small car for like $4,000. I wont name the models because it will probably mean nothing to you guys but just something to get me around (so I dont have to drive my wife to and from work everyday).

RE: Dragonmaster

The only American cars here are Chrysler and Dodge (are they the same company?)

I say a Dodge Crossfire (I think they are called) yesterday, it looked really good. But I think your manufacturers are happy making Left Hand Drive cars and its not worth stuffing around changing them to Right Hand Drive just to sell a few overseas.

When I said I wouldnt list them I meant the models not the make because they call the same cars different names around the world.

RE: Dragonmaster

They were actually going to make a supercar monaro but I was shelved because of cost, they still made a few as race cars but the road version was going to have all the go-fast bits. Look here

RE: Dragonmaster

Hi, just got back and have bought a 1993 Toyota Corolla Seca (hope that means something), it is auto, power steering, CD player etc, alarm, central locking etc... its cool. Funny thing is that its red, meaning all 3 cars I have ever owned have been red. Its only done like 148,000 kilometres (miles ???), anyway other cars of this age have like way over 200,000 so I'm quite pleased.

RE: Dragonmaster

Yea, that is only like 92,000 miles. Yes, that is low. You can't go wrong with a Toyota. That is too bad that of all the American cars you have Chrysler products. Chrysler sucks...yes, Dodge is made by Chrysler.

RE: Dragonmaster

(shrugs) the cost of living here is REALY low.

I'm getting a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim. It came with a 4 or 6cylinder, but it will hold a small v8 (he he he) In two more paydays I'll have what I need to pay cash for one with a 6 (about$5,000) and by the time the trans blowes I'll have enuf money to get it overhaled. I'd rather have an older car with a new trans, engine, and paint (under $3,000) then have a new car that you have to hook up to a super PC to change the battery.

I know spending $8,000 on a 14 year old car is a bit wacky, but its what I want.

RE: Dragonmaster

Ew - you are a wise man! I agree. I drive a Toyota Camry and I plan on buying a new Toyota Corolla next year, the WSR with the six-speed and all the ground effects and the rear spoiler, and sweeeet gas mileage!
