ECSD IN ALDEN

too little too late. howard obviously is either to blind or just doesn't care. if by some miracle he actually reads this, or hears of it :

sheriff howard, we the officers at eccf have zero confidence in the abilities of captain bienko. he makes spiteful decisions and shows definite favoritism - the kind that may end up with you being named in a federal lawsuit - towards certain staff, and bias against others. security is secondary at the jail the nyscoc called the 'worst run' in the state. is that something you want to be associated with ? don't be fooled by the fake good reports that your flunkies send you - there are serious problems with the people that have been put in power at eccf. how about you meet with a panel of officers off the record ? no livingston, doyle or bienko - just you and some officers to let you in on the real goings-on. it's not too late to turn things around. think about it.

Firefighters
------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------

Because of a rising number of firefighter deaths in forest fires out West, many states are NOT allowing their firefighters to fight a fire to protect a homeowners house, where the owner has NOT taken basic measures to protect their OWN property.

You know...like cutting down trees and removing brush near the house, or NOT instalLing a metal, instead of cedar shingle roof !!

It's about TIME !!!

Now if they could only do something about these IGNORANT homeowners who insist on rebuilding in the SAME location, maybe taxpayers would NOT have to CONTINUOUSLY bail out the insurance companies who go bust !!!!

Many other states have a rule called "delayed discovery," and NY needs to get on board.

With that rule, since it has been discovered that Mr. Donohue's DNA was found on and near the teenage gal, his immunity deal goes out the window effective now. He can be prosecuted due to the new evidence.

Say what you will about Mama DeJac, I think it's time to concede this: she has suffered enough. She may not have been the most ideal example of a mom, but I can't conceive that she would be a monster. I'd charge and sentence her for neglect and endangerment, call it time served, and send her home.

Eliot Spitzer
------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------

Eliot is supposed to KNOW the law, and yet he single handedly is going to allow ILLEGAL immigrants to apply for and receive a LEGAL NYS drivers license !!!

It's TIME for Eliot Spitzer to EITHER resign from office, or have NYS citizens petition Andrew Cuomo, the NYS Attorney General, to remove Spitzer from office for violation of his Oath of Office to UPHOLD THE LAWS OF NEW YORK STATE !!!

Eliot is MORE than an embarassment...

Eliot should be KICKED out of office if he doesn't have the sense to RESIGN !!!

Looks like the worm turned for Mr Spitzer
------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------

Please someone explain to me how the word "ILLEGAL" can be overlooked.

Mr. Spitzer was the Attorney General for NYS. He was and still is supposed to uphold the laws of the state.

So now that he is Governor, how does he justify his position on allowing "ILLEGAL" immigrants the right to get a NYS drivers license.

Ah, maybe some big business lobbyist got to him and now he has a different view.

Once again the voters of NYS apparently have made a mistake. I hope when it comes to president they don’t make another one and vote for our carpet-bagging senator.

I'll take Pitts over you as a responsible and knowledgeable writer any day. Hands down. He writes facts. You write asinine opinions. No one will give you a red cent for any of your "contributions." The news world pays Pitts. That puts him about a zillion rungs up on the authorship ladder than you. Your revenue is zero, with no prospects. You are a no-body, given the privilege to let your gas out on the unsuspecting. Go ahead and complain. And belch some more. When bigots like you have Obama for President, you will have to pay even more. Hairballs like you stop the economics growth in WNY. I do not meaning hearing from you here. It's now a free-fire zone. But just know you are one of the yokels that can't think of one positive thing to add. Just like Pitts says. You are worthless.

AmericaÕs most noxious mick, Bill O'Reilly, told his radio followers that he dined with Reverend Al Sharpton at Sylvia's recently. He declared in amazement that he couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between that famous Harlem, Black owned restaurant and any suburban spic or dago restaurant. There wasn't any of the kind of the craziness that he is accustomed to in his usual Irish places of recreation.

Interesting take on the EC democratic scene. I personally feel much the same way that you do, and I believe the South Buffalo gang is becoming much too transparent in their effort to "have it all." Byron Brown traded his support for Keane so it will be returned to him when he either looks to replace Louise Slaughter or yes, Hillary Clinton. That leaves the Mayor's slot open for another South Buffalo resident or a hand-picked candidate from Brian Higgins. IF Keane is elected, that will be the end of Lenny. Oh, he'll end up on his feet somewhere but it won't be in the Ellicott Square building. Then we'll have another South Buffalonian heading up the EC Dems. Don't downplay the Higgins-Keane-Schroeder-Kennedy connection.

GARY Gary gary
------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------

As I explained previously, Gov. Spitzer is HONORING an election promise.

Starting December, the NY Department of MOTOR VEHICLES will accept foreign passports and birth CERTIFICATEs from anyone as proofs of identification for new LICENSE applications.

No person will need to provide LEGAL status paperwork or present a SOCIAL SECURITY card.

A FEDERAL PRIVACY ACT makes it unlawful for a governmental agency to deny a RIGHT, benefit, or privilege merely because the individual refuses to disclose his SSN.

County clerks around the state were in ALBANY recently to meet with officials from the Department of MOTOR Vehicles to discuss the new procedures.

During last year's GUBERNATORIAL campaign Mr. Spitzer said he would PERMIT any person to obtain a driver's license.

He argued that banning them from DRIVING worsened the lives of hundreds of thousands of New YORKERS.

Having unlicensed and UNINSURED drivers on NY roads presents a DANGER to all New York users of NY roads.

Keeping UNDOCUMENTED immigrants unlicensed is hurting all New Yorkers for NO GOOD REASON.

The only rational is to HARASS people that some folks are not disposed to WELCOME as citizens by an AMNESTY.

UPPERCASE PROVIDED FOR SAKE OF GARY WHO CAN NOT WRITE WITHOUT USING IT IN EVERY LINE.

Brian Doyle for State Supreme Court

Conversation with Brian Doyle, Candidate for Judge NYS Supreme Court

by Judy Einach

PoliticsNYNET@aol.com

When I was asked to interview Under Sheriff Brian Doyle I asked why. After all, candidates for judge are limited in what they can say. But I must admit this turned out to be a delightful conversation in which Brian Doyle showed his good humor and a very real commitment to making decisions from the bench based on his best knowledge of what the right thing to do is.

Brian is the son of the highly regarded 8th Judicial District Chief Justice, the late Vincent Doyle, a legend in the WNY legal community. As Brian said, with good humor, "I wish I could ride on my dad’s coattails, but people know me too well!" Brian is married to Maureen Fitzpatrick Doyle, whose father, Mike Fitzpatrick, is second-in-command in the International Ironworkers Union. He described his relationship with his wife as Buffalo’s version of James Carvel and Mary Matalin, although, by gender their party affiliations are reversed. They have four children; three sons, one newly born, and a daughter.

Currently Brian is Under Sheriff for Erie County. His career wasn’t a straight out of college and into law school story. Brian went to law school only after he’d trained in the Police Academy, married and had children. He credits one of his instructors at the Police Academy, Arnie Discipio, with guiding him well during these years and encouraging him to use his credits from the Academy toward a 2-year degree. His 2-year year degree became a 4-year degree and eventually Brian went to law school.

In 1983 Brian took a job with the Erie County Sheriff’s Department as a Road Patrol Officer. When he completed his law degree he kept this job and opened a small private practice. He maintained his practice and moved up the ranks in the Sheriff’s Department from Sergeant to Lieutenant to Chief and now serves as Under Sheriff.

In 2000 Brian Doyle was "drafted" to become the Second Assistant County Attorney/Director of Labor Relations. In this position, which he held for almost three years, he represented the County in all labor matters. In 2003, he was asked by Sheriff Galvin to take on the Chief’s job, serving as CFO and Human Services Director.

While I obviously had to be "judicious" with my questions to pull out what kind of person Brian Doyle will be on the bench, I was able to speak with him about what he’s learned personally during his career. In the last five years Brian has "done about 50 cases," and represented people "in all different Courts" indicating a range of experience and knowledge of the judicial system.

With respect to his various responsibilities in the Sheriff’s Department Brian said, "I have to make decisions to terminate certain employees and I have to make sure I’m doing the right thing for the right reason." He went on to say that this means he has to examine his own thinking, freeing himself of personal prejudices so that his decisions are grounded in a definition of ‘right’ that is rooted in moral philosophy. This is a practice that he believes will serve him well on the bench. "I try to do the right things for the right reasons. If you live with that as a mantra you’re generally successful."

Leaving you with Brian Doyle’s own words, "I think I would be a good judge because my experience in life has shown me things that others haven’t seen. I’ve been there in people’s living rooms when their homes were burglarized or when a family member has been victimized by crimes, including murder. I won’t be able to let go of these impressions.

I realize that the people in the courtroom are human beings. Victims of crime have to have a voice and need to be heard. My experience as a municipal attorney reveals that the system does get bogged down with the number of lawsuits files. We have to get the frivolous lawsuits settled as quickly as possible and move the non-frivolous lawsuits forward as quickly as possible and give them the attention they deserve."
