Time Magizine

Did anyone else read last weeks edition of time magizine and start thinking "Ohh... west point sounds fun."

That whole article made the school sound so cool and fun to be at, and afterwards I realized that that's exactly what it was intended to do... and then I felt robbed by the propoganda...

You're an idiot. I have a great respect for anyone who goes to a military academy.

They would admit you, that's for sure.

Isn't westpoint primarily gotten in to by having family in high places or having lots of cash? (i.e. politicians kids or such) To get in from your own merits is pretty difficult. Kinda like yale. Right connections.

Dole, think before you speak, you schmuck. Where in my post did I say anything about it not being a respectable institution? Also, where did I state that I wouldn’t have respect for someone who went there? That's right. I didn't!

I was commenting on the article itself, making the school sound fun (the propaganda), rather than what it probably is, which I'm assuming is grueling, difficult, and painful.

A good scholarship?!?!?!? That's the best laugh I've had today. As a military academy there is NO tuition, fees, etc. It only costs an eight year commitment to the US Army after you graduate.

A cousin of mine went there (his father was a Lt. Col so that's how he got in) and I spent 7 years in the militarty under several officers who graduated from West Point, so I know what I'm talking about.

My dad was a fighter pilot. He went to the Air Force Academy. Each Senator from each state gets to nominate 2 people to go to each academy. That's how my dad got in. Also, the President gets to nominate so many people, and they reserve so many spots for kids of alumni.

There is no tuition. Actually, you get paid a small stipend as a student because you're not allowed to have a job while you're going there. Also, the amount of time you have to spend in depends on what your job is. Pilots it's 10 years. Ditto for doctors. It varies.

Dole, it’s cute how you don't acknowledge how much of a douche you after jumping down my throat without even understanding my post.
