RE: Supersized papercraft

ewrgh, it ate half my post. i meant to add, do you ever plan to make supersized papercraft? anywhere from 2-3 feet to life size? me and my friend where talking about it, while pouring over the link template and we thought itd be aesome. i know you could just size the templates and print it out at kinkos and whatnot, but we mean something specificly designed to be huge and with similar incredible details. in otherwords, 15 pieces for just one finger. ever thought about it? ever considered it? my friend also works at a gamestore, and we thought itd be awesome to display some of these (shes already bringing in a luma she made and gonna tape it to the registers. XD so, i guess more specificly, could i ask you to make a supersized link, and maybe even a twighlight princess version, with all those superduper details and all. 8D lols just thought it would be neat.

RE: Supersized papercraft

I'm glad you like my work! ;o)

I think you have a valid point: for my papercrafts, I always aim for the parts to fit on A4 size (close to US letter size) paper, since I want myself and other people to be able to print the model themselves at home.

And because I also don't want to use a large amount of sheets, the models turn out usually between 20 and 30 cm (for characters). This means I have to get rid of a lot of details, or else the parts would become too small too handle.

But I think it's interesting that you should mention my SSBM Link as an example, because that's the most detailed model I have done so far, and I think that one could be suited to print 2, maybe 3 or even 4 times as big? Maybe even life sized indeed, and it might still look detailed enough.

I haven't tried something like that yet though, so I'm afraid I can't tell you how if it would work or not (but I think at least 2 and even 3 times should look quite nice, but it might need reinforcing on the inside already at that size) and specifically designing a model to be that big in't really where my interest lies; I like my models "desktop sized" and it would require too much of my scarce spare time to do as a side project, sorry! ;o)

I think it's a nice idea, though, maybe you can start by printing out the hands or the face of SSBM Link at a larger scale and see how it turns out; just testing your idea doesn't require you to do the whole model of course. ;o)

Good luck and have fun!
