need colors!

I downloaded some ripped Zelda models, but they are all grey. How do I input the colors?

RE: need colors!

It depends on the software you're using how to do that, and on the file format if it accepts texture mapping. But if they are game rips, they usually do.
The textures are nothing more than images wrapped around the 3D model. So the first thing you should check, is the download included those as well (should be in *.jpg, *.tga or any other image format).
Then, it should be a matter of checking in the help files how to apply textures (often called materials or something like that) to the model. Usually you will have to select the polygons you wish to apply the texture to, and assign a "material" to them, and that material should be linked to the image file on your computer (you will have to set the material by browsing to your image file and save/confirm your choice: you should check the manual for your 3D software on how to do it exactly).

Then, if all goes well, and if the ripping process included the UV map (which tells the software how to wrap the image around the 3D model) the model should appear like it does in the game again. If it doesn't include the UV map with the UV coordinates, you will have to make a new yourself (you should check your software on how to apply textures).

I hope this helps, it sounds difficult, but that's just because it's hard to explain in words. ;o) It's usually just a matter of clicking a few buttons and setting the texture file right. Good luck!
