Did your previous list pretty much cover it? I happen to think divorce should only be an absolute last resort if there is no other solution. It seems like people take marriage pretty lightly these days. |

I was married to an angry alcoholic that made me miserable. He was quite abusive and scared the crap out of me very frequently. In that case, it is more like living with a terrorist, and I don't think anyone should have to live like that. I could tell you many stories, but I think if you have had a gun pointed at you more than ten times by a drunk man, and then in the morning, he act like it was no big deal, that the gun wasn't loaded, or whatever crap, and they won't go get help, don't even think they have a problem that it is all you, and all your friends and family think you are a dumbass for staying, then it is okay to go. You have to remember...he had a great job, making a hundred grand a year, we had a nice house, two very new nice cars, the kids, blah, blah,,,but most people had no idea what a monster he could turn into...from the outside, we looked "fairly" normal...if he was sober... It sucked, it was like prison...that is not a marriage...so I don't feel bad at all for getting a divorce. I think that if you loved someone enough to marry them, in normal cases, if it gets yucky, then try some counseling and trying to regain the spark first, before jumping to divorce. |

And amen to you getting out of that bs so you could have a happy and secure life with your girls. I swear I can spot an alcoholic (functional ones esp.) from a mile away. My dad was the life of the party and everyone thought he was the nicest guy. He was, when he wanted to be but what a charmer after a pint of scotch! |
