RE: Dopenhagen

So true on the tobacco...my ex-husband only smoked Marlboro Reds in the box and if he ever had to buy some in a soft pack for some reason, he would be such a baby about it, like they were completely different. Weird. I have only known one person that didn't care what they smoked. They smoked whatever generic brand was cheapest, and he was such a loser! LOL

RE: Dopenhagen

beer is highly dependant on my mood and what's available. but i'll agree with smokes... most people are crazy about their tobacco brand

RE: Dopenhagen

i wont smoke anything but marlboro reds in a box, alot of my friends smoke old gold reds cos they taste like a marb and are cheaper...no no, they do not taste the same and i end up smoking 3 packs a day, so really, not cheaper at all...nothing hits the spot like a marb red

...i remember going in a gas station all high and asked for marb reds in a box and they gave me soft pack and im like what the **** is this! the girl laughed and said its all they have, i was so ****ed! soft packs taste nothing like the box packs and if u look at the ingredients or whatever they are actually different ...
plus they get crushed up in my pocket

RE: Dopenhagen

They stink more. I don't smoke, so of course I hate the smell and taste of it. I didn't kiss my ex-husband for like 13 years because he was a smoker, it just totally grossed me out, but my ex-boyfriend since then was a very light smoker and he smoked Marlboro lights and he never smelled like smoke and I couldn't taste it.

RE: Dopenhagen

yeah old people always told me that quitting ciggs is gonna be the hardest thing i ever do...i used to smoke a pack a day, now its 2 or so ciggs a day...and i get them free so now its even harder to quit...

i dont really wanna quit though, i like it, i like having to go outside on occasion and sitting there and clear my head and stuff (cos my days are so stressfull)

well i do wanna quit, but then again i dont...
i dont think it will be anytime soon

RE: Dopenhagen

I found the easiest way to quit is go on vacation and don't smoke while you're there - you'll be distracted and you wont get all mental about it. then when you get back after one or two weeks you're not hooked anymore.

it worked for me, anyway

RE: Dopenhagen

um exactly what about smoking relieves any stress whatsoever? paying to slowly and painfully introduce death into one's life sounds like a stressful enterprise to me.

i used to smoke heavily for 10 years and thought i loved it but when i woke up and quit, i realized i was lying to myself. i said i loved it because i thought i couldn't quit. now it's been 7 years without it and i can't remember how i ever started or what it ever did for me.

if anyone's ever been out and a smoker was rudely forcing the unhealthy aspects of their repugnant habit on you through second hand smoke, let me apologize for them. i think i owe big time.

RE: Dopenhagen

yep - I thought it was helping me relax too... right now just thinking about sucking down that tar and chemicals makes me wonder how I could have done that. I might as well have been smoking a burning tire.

RE: Dopenhagen

not having one would be stressful because of the addiction, which makes ppl think it releives stress...i guess ... i dont have stressful days, i was joking, i dont do anything ever

RE: Dopenhagen

I don't quite get smoking either. I've smoked my fair share (Parliment Lights) but I really don't see whats so huge about it. I never got addicted (Thank God) but its not like I'm having a bad day and I'm like "I NEED A CIGARETTE TO MAKE THE WORLD BETTER!" I guess sometimes its fun to smoke, but driving was fun too when I first started and that fun faded, as has the 'fun' of smoking.

I understand doing something because you're addicted to it (I can't go more than 8 hours without caffein), but I don't get what GETS people to the point of addiction with cigarettes in the first place.

RE: Dopenhagen

James Dean, Dean Martin, Bruce Willis and countless others peddle it everyday, even from the grave.

no secret that pop culture sells smoking as sexy. tobacco companies are by far the most devious in their marketing. you get mentally addicted to the pretense that it somehow makes you cooler, stronger, a rebel. Teens are really susceptible to this. I know that's when I started. Being rebellious as I could be by doing the same dumb ass thing everyone else does to rebell. Those who continue into their wiser years though, I just don't get. telling themselves the lie that they don't want to quit, or know they can quit if they want, so they don't have to right now. newsflash, quitting will be hard and take will power, not quitting will kill you. pick.
