Donut Bakery Loyalty

I'm a big donut fan. I've finally found my favorite bakery, and am loyal to them: Hillcrest Bakery on Main Street in Bothell. Yum.

Here is my ranking of places to get a donut from worst to best:
* Fred Meyer - These suck - it's like glazed cardboard. You're better off getting nothing.
* Entenmann's - Not bad - especially the powder sugar donuts.
* Safeway - Best Grocery Store Brand - definately adequate
* Country Side Donuts (Main Street, Bothell) - better than a grocery store, not as good as other donut shops
* Krispy Kreme - The hot glazed are awesome - but everything else they sell is just sort of ... blah.
* Westernco Donut - Mmmm... Delicious!
* Hillcrest Bakery (Main Street, Bothell) - They make a maple bizmark - a rare find, and pack it full of delicious custard. And if they don't have what you're looking for, they'll go to the back and make it for you! Sometimes they'll fill a maple bar with custard for me! Also, their garlic bread (the stuff in the foil bag) is better than any other I've tried.

There's also a place in the Pike Place Market that sells a donut as big as a dinner plate, that's pretty good - they also have a maple bizmark. I've only had one or two donuts from their, so I'm not sure where it fits in my scale. Probably somewhere around Westernco.

I hear that Top Pot donuts is pretty good, but I haven't been there yet.

RE: Donut Bakery Loyalty

The best donuts I have ever eaten were from Tacoma! I don't know if you ever make it to the Lakeview area there in Tacoma, but I loved the donut shop there by the mall.

I hardly ever eat donuts, but I happen to have some cheap-ass donut bites by Hostess this morning!
